Nothing wrong with protesting. Just a tad ironic to happen during the period where the world is consuming more oil and NG then every before and more coal then almost every year since we began burning it.
Perhaps they might want to protest louder. And focus their chants more towards the consumers who are the ones actually diving the process.

Well said, rockman. Thank you.

Of course people should organize to fight climate change. Of course the demonstrations should target the do-nothing politicians who claim to oppose climate change but then offer plans to reduce CO2 emissions 100 years in the future. Why would anyone except corrupt elites attack the people who are protesting climate change?
I’m not surprised the person criticizing the climate protest used the “F-bomb”…… he clearly had nothing intelligent to say anyway.
Perk Earl on Mon, 15th Jun 2015 11:12 am
I guess these protestors didn’t get the word; TPTB don’t care what we the people think. They didn’t care during the Iraq war protests one ioda, because we no longer have any power except to make an alternate choice vote in a general election of one guy or the other who will become a puppet to greater financial interests right after they take the oath of office and are informed of their job duties.

“The U.S. Federal Reserve is on track to raise interest rates for the first time in nearly a decade in September, according to a Reuters poll that suggests economists now are mostly confident about that timing.”
But my Monday AM rant has more to do with the above link. Did you catch what it says there; based on a poll some economists speculate the Fed will raise interest rates in September.
Since when can a decision by the Fed be determined by a poll? This poll taking bit is going way too far. If we’re going to do that then why not take a poll on which Basketball team will win the championship and then not bother playing the games?

Signs of drought appear to be in Western Canada for the long term
“The director of the Centre for Hydrology at the University of Saskatchewan monitors 35 remote observatories in the mountains from Kananaskis, west of Calgary, to the Athabasca glacier, 100 kilometres south of Jasper.
And the data he is collecting – which show snowpacks vanishing at record speed – point to dramatically reduced river flows across B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan this spring. With recent record dry spells in some areas, the shortage of runoff water could lead to drought across a vast region of Western Canada.
“We’re not there yet,” he said, when asked if it could get as bad as the disastrous U.S. situation, which this year is expected to cause agricultural losses of $3-billion in California, $1.2-billion in Washington and an unknown amount in Oregon.
But there is reason to worry, he added, because the conditions are linked to climate change and appear to be here for the long term.”

Apneaman: Both Paulo & Rockman seemed to be critical of the approch and tactics – not the overall objective. We need to conceive our vitriol and spleen for the people who really need it directed at them. SubMedia is interesting, I don’t agree with a lot of what they say, but their hearts are in the game and they are willing to put their asses on the line. That goes a long way.

If the system, which dictates what behavior is allowable, does not change then neither will the people. Most people follow the system, good, bad or indifferent. It may already be too late and the laws physics, chemistry and biology are going to give us a new system.

It’s the Planet Stupid!: Capitalism and The Destruction of the Commons
“Most definitions offered by economists go something like this: those material things which are produced by labor, can satisfy human wants, and must have an exchange value. And of course, the medium of exchange we all know and love is money, moola, cash, bucks – in short currency. But as Chris Martenson points out, currency is merely a claim on wealth, not real wealth. It has no intrinsic value.
One of the problems with this is that there are no practical limits on currency.
For example, the value of the global derivatives market is $1.2 quadrillion. Let’s write that out complete with zeroes for the full impact: $1,200,000,000,000,000.”

When Canada took away Captain Paul Watson’s passport on behalf of Japan
“Without a Canadian passport I am not allowed to enter Canada because dual citizens may not enter the country with the passport of their alternative citizenship.
I was born in Toronto in 1950. My mother was born in Toronto in 1930. My father was born in Atholville, New Brunswick in 1928.
My father served in the Korean War as an Army cook and a Sergeant. (The Blackwatch) His father served in World War I in the infantry. My great uncle whom I am named after, served in the Canadian Navy during World War II. He died from his war injuries.
My mother’s father served in the Canadian Army as an officer in the Boer War in South Africa.I served in the Canadian Coast Guard between 1969 and 1974.
My great grandfather was born in Prince Edward Island. His father, my great great grandfather was born in Nova Scotia.
My father’s family came from Brittany, France on my Acadian side in 1587, first to St. Pierre Miquelon then onto Acadia. On the Scottish side, the first one to arrive was a soldier under the command of General James Wolfe in 1759. He married a French woman and that is why today on my father’s side Watson is the only Anglo name in a huge clan of Canadian relatives bearing the names Maillet, Boudreau, Babineau, Dorion and Arsenault.
My mother’s father was born in Copenhagen, but her mother, my grandmother was born in Ontario. Her parents were from Louisville, Kentucky. They emigrated to Canada in 1908 from California, after her older brother was killed in the San Francisco earthquake when he was 6. My roots go back at least to 1850 in the USA.
Today, I have family, uncles, aunts, cousins, brothers and sisters in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. Also in New York, Washington, and South Carolina. I have no relatives that I’m aware of in Europe.
I am saying this to demonstrate that as a Canadian going back fourteen generations to 1587 I feel I am qualified to express my opinion on the current state of political affairs in Canada.
My position is quite simple. In supporting and voting for Bill C-51 and making it law, both Stephen Harper and Justin Trudeau have betrayed all past generations of Canadians.”
