April 6, 2013: Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Friday that contaminated water may have leaked into soil from an underground reservoir tank at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. A radioactive substance has been detected in water accumulated between soil around the tank and the outer layer of a waterproof sheet covering the tank. The tank is covered by three layers of waterproof sheets. According to TEPCO and the Nuclear Regulation Authority, around 6,000 becquerels of radiation per cubic centimeter was logged in the water on Friday. […]
Fukushima Diary (h/t Anonymous tip): By this January, 96% of contaminated water storage facility was full. They made 4 holes underground and has been using them for the emergency water storage facility. On 4/5/2013, Tepco announced they found the highly contaminated water leaking into the ground. […] Tepco is going to hold an emergency press conference at 1:30AM of 4/6/2013 (JST). […] See Tepco‘s announcement here

What everybody worried about? Radiation is natural. It occurs naturally underground. So, they have radiation underground. No problem. When can they restart those 6 reactors at Fukushima? Time for more cheap electricity.

I wonder if that map was printed in any West Coast newspapers? Nah! What was I thinking! The sheeple have to be kept dumb and blind. They might just demand we go over there and clean up GE’s mess.

No way, don’t clean up the mess, make Japan clean it up on their dime. Its good how it is, the corporations get to export their chaos & death to some other country, not legal in their own, and no obligation to clean it up.
A government by and for corporations, a system that any wealthy greedy Mitt Romney would be proud of. Who pays for Fukushima? Now that its a smoking hole? The little people, the working class. Who enjoyed the profits when the generators were still spinning? The rich elites.
Here’s the real system: ‘Capitalism for the profits, socialism for the losses’.
The rich will glorify the capitalism and badmouth the socialism, when in fact, the socialization of their losses is what allows them to stay rich.
Otherwise every Fukushima shareholder would now be bankrupted, and then some, for their unlimited liability.
As to the dumb stupid idiot sheeple, sure, they prop up the status quo, by voting for the republican rich, vote for the republicans on Tuesday, NASCAR on Saturday, then go to church on Sunday.
Considering all that, could care less when the whole pathetic system collapses violently.

Wind, solar, wave energy, geothermal and second generation biofuels made from algae, cellulose and waste are the future.

Think what would happen to U.S. if we had an EMP attack.
BillT on Sun, 7th Apr 2013 3:26 pm
Cloud9, I don’t even want to entertain the possibility, but it could happen. We have about 40 nuclear sites in the US that could all shut down and lose coolant at the same time. End of story.
