In our extended coverage with this enigmatic and lifelong oilman and “downhole” expert, we explore the topic of quart by quart oil spills into the environment. The fossil fuel CEO, who in his own words said he wanted to “take the opportunity to clear his conscience of some things that have been weighing on his chest for a long time”, wanted to respond to a press release published late last year that showcased the fact that the worlds largest oil spill is not the Exxon/Valdez, BP, Taft, California, or even the Kuwaiti oil fields, but rather the spill that is happening on a quart by quart basis, slowly, and from a multitude of commercial and consumer sources worldwide.
The press release entitled “Silent Oil Spills”, was released by the Society of Professional Journalists (SEJ) on December 6, 2012 and pointed out some daunting statistics regarding the amount of namely, motor oil that is spilled into our oceans and water supplies each year. The press release, paid for by Biosynthetic Technologies (BT), pointed out that over 2.5 billion gallons of “lubricating oil” are sold annually, but only about 1.5 billion come back, meaning that over 1 billion gallons are “lost in use” and for the most part end up back in the environment in one way shape or form. The write-up also exposed the fact that 200 million gallons of motor oil are illegally dumped or improperly disposed of each year as a result of reckless home oil changes. The PR write-up cited numbers compiled by the National Research Council and listed air pollution from cars and industry, “routine ship maintenance”, and improper oil changes as the main culprits. That may all be true, but our oil patch truth-teller had a little something to say about quart by quart oil spills that was not not discussed in the release.
In this compelling segment from our extended coverage with the oil CEO, he takes EnviroNews USA onto a well-site where oil and chemicals are lying around casually on the snow covered grounds. What he reveals to us about the prevalence of this type of environmentally destructive situation worldwide in the oil industry will shock you!

We’re poisoning ourselves, our children and future generations of all life-forms to get our fix. This cannot end well – once you’ve OD’ed you can’t just miraculously go back to a healthy environment.

An even more serious problem is the oil and other toxic crud that simply leaks out of the 250 million or so gas-burners in N.A. every single day. People of course, dont realize or care there ‘cars’ leak fluids onto the ground constantly, no matter how they are maintained. All the oil, AF, and other toxins end up on the ground. A lot of it simply runs down driveways and parking lots and ends up being collected by the local sewer\water system. It never gets treated of course because storm drains are mainly meant to collect rainwater, not treat oil\gas saturated water. That is just the passive leaking, and the quantities are huge. When you add in the deliberate careless disposal, things get worse of course. But hey, all that oil being sold is good for the economy! No matter that a lot of it ends up in the water supply.

55,000 miles of crude oil pipelines in the US and most way past their useful life. At 60 feet sections that males at least 5,000,000 possible joints that can drip drip drip for decades without detection. Only the oil companies know how much goes in and how much comes out the other end and it is top secret. But, I would bet it is hundreds of barrels per day. Maybe thousands.

And lets not forget the 1,000,000,000+ tires that are being shredded everyday on our asphalt highways putting many tons of oil/chemical dust into the air, water and soil.
