COLUMBUS, Ohio – This is Earth Overshoot Day, the day of the year that environmental activists say humanity has used up more natural resources than the planet can replenish each year.
The ecological deficit can be blamed on pollution of the air and water, over fishing, deforestation, excess waste, and above all, overloading the atmosphere with carbon dioxide.
David Lin, chief science officer for the Global Footprint Network, says it’s a sad day.
“So, right now we are overusing natural resources and also producing more waste than the environment can handle,” he states.
Lin suggests that society urgently needs to move away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy, build a transportation system that relies on mass transit, and make our homes and commercial buildings more energy efficient.
In addition, he says population growth can be slowed by giving women worldwide more economic opportunity and control over their own future.
Lin says the problem of excess consumption is likely to get much worse, as the world population grows.
Right now there are 7.53 billion human beings on the planet – and that number is expected to skyrocket to 11 billion by the year 2100.
So, he says we must rearrange our cities to promote walkability and green spaces – future proof them, so to speak.
“As we head towards 11 billion, there is going to be a mass migration to cities,” he states. “So the way we structure it is going to be extremely important.”
Scientists estimate that people first started using more resources than the world can produce in the 1970s. This year, the “overshoot date” is the earliest it has ever been.

My fear, it will be too late, when we find out the real facts.
Could be a pipeline has been punctured by sabotage.
NOT the ship itself. You can be sure, this event is far from accidental.
Such acts are commonplace in Nigeria where a full blown oil/religious war is raging.(millions displaced, tens of thousands dead)
Unlike the Nigerian Civil War, in Syria, opposing forces include
a dozen international militaries.
It would be difficult to lay blame on any single proxy group.
Any effort to do so, pure speculation.

Meanwhile, the US Senate failed to stop a multi billion dollar arms sale to KSA.
Since, after six years of bombing Yemen is totally
free of targets. Bombing the dead and starving would be sinful a waste of good oil money.
The real substance here, KSA, Israel, will commence bombing Iran.
One ONLY question remains, ‘how much longer does mankind
have?’ Does anyone doubt Saudi Arabia and Iran have already
purchased nuclear weapons from North Korea and Pakistan?
Once the ME goes up in flames, Russia can name it’s price, political and monetary, for crude oil and gas.
Trump is selling vital arms to Saudi Arabia to hasten its final
exit.

AH, where would that be idaho? So a drone was shot down. Might have been in their air space might have not but not a significant butt kicking deal. These drones are sitting ducks for surface to air missiles. If that is what you think butt kicking is then you may want to do your homework a little more.

When things go wrong, and declining EROEI is something going wrong in every aspect of life, people need someone to blame. It’s one of those human traits that is as predictable as the Sun rising as the Earth spins on its axis. Once blame is aggressive strategies are planned out, i.e. war.
I figure as EROEI declines with its knock on effects, and as droughts, failing crops etc. force people to migrate, the situation will descend into full scale war.
The alternative is people say to themselves; “Oh, things deteriorating is just a side effect of declining EROEI coupled with climate change, so we really don’t have anyone to blame. So, let’s just take the descent with our brothers and sisters and not lay blame and go to war.”
But unfortunately people are not so evolved, so war is likely inevitable.

The world elites neither know nor care about Gaia. And the masses demand only more and more bread and circuses. So forget about stopping growth before it stops us. With an average world IQ of 82, you might as well be lecturing a lowland gorilla about nuclear physics. As far as behavior is concerned, you can take the Negroid out of the jungle, but not the jungle out of the Negroid. And the narco-addicts in America and elsewhere, along with the perverts who demand underage children for their sexual satisfaction, could not care less about the future.
As for the Bolsheviks vying for the Democratic presidential candidacy, earthly overshoot might be at most a talking point used as a stepping stone to power, nothing more.
Finally, the Pentagonians (and their corresponding numbers abroad) can think only of cooking the earth with radioactivity.

Mindless MOB must be a mud. Excessive Materialism is the problem, which (s)he cannot recognize. To be brief, the religionists and the materialists are each feeling only a part of the elephant of existence, and misinterpeting even those parts. The religionists are blind to the realities of evolution, biology and physics; the materialists are blind to the reality of the morphogenetic paranormal undergirding the physical cosmos. Up until a few decades ago, the materialists were convinced they had it all figured out, except for a few small problems (like the elusiveness of a Theory of Everything). Then dark matter and dark energy were discovered, constituting about 95% of all being. Of course, that still did not cause them to change their convictions. They still know it all.
Conversely, most religionists/spiritualists refuse to recognize that not just IQ, but behavior and a host of other things depend on biology, and are not cultural constructs to be waved away by some Declaration of Independence fantasizing that all men are created equal.
The combination of these incompatibilities has made for an ideological stew which demands infinite growth, world conquest and sob story politics based on crony capitalism and hypocrisy of the most absurd sort.
In the end, the structural rules laid down by the cosmic inframind will make sure that this planet will not tolerate a criminal species of the stupidity-preferring, overshooting kind. And after Providences attempt to correct our deadly course was aborted by America in 1941-45, there is no magic solution, either in technology or in religion.
Davy on Thu, 1st Aug 2019 5:29 am
Thee, IQ and behavior have a relativity in regards to universal value, whatever that is. This value I speak of is greater than the human personification we inevitably do. Humans tend to project a human face on intelligence and what ever the sacred or higher power is. So, what we get is in Christian religion a white hair white grandpa as God. This old white man is wise hence old. We know old white guys have a wisdom from experience so this is the immediate vision of what a God would be for the early Christian that lingers on into today’s world. Even if we agree that Jesus likely had some color in him because of his location we would still look at a Christian God as an old grey-haired man of some color and so forth. In your case I take it you find a universal intelligence as the higher power. This fantastic intelligence pervading the universe as the real higher power and so forth. Of course, I don’t know what is deep down in you but I see from your very powerful writing intelligence as at least a basis.
The problem with all of us and are higher power is the personification of it. We want to make it human so we can relate to it and fit into to and find a redemption experience in it. This experience heals the empty duality of the isolated ego that paradoxically is what intelligence does to us. Intelligence creates duality that we want to heal by getting closure to the highest and all-pervasive intelligence. While I feel this human element is part of this universal higher power that drives all of “IT” I do see the human element as only a sliver of this. In this regard then having a view that humans are not created equal and one type is better than another is just more projecting of the empty isolated ego in search of redemption.
In the case of many white men their starting point is white European culture. I do agree all men and cultures are not equal but looking at this deeper we can say in the view of what is best for the planet and the web of life then Europeans are the lowest on the list. We Europeans are the reason the world is being destroyed. We constructed the global system that is driving planetary destruction. In regards to higher civilization other than the Chinese civilization which has fundamental differences and, in some ways, more advanced, I can see no other civilization that has taken science and power further. Europeans conquered the world with brute force and culture. If I say this higher European culture is bad because of planetary destruction or good because of higher cultural intelligence then I am doing the same projecting. It may be the case that this destruction is actually not bad because the nature of nature is succession, extinction, and evolution. We project extinction as bad because bad and good is a human trait of an isolated ego searching for a redemption from its existentialism. We generally see destructive forces and chaos as bad or evil. But is this just the biology of intelligence tricking itself?
So, my point is with the starting point. If all I can do as a human is project then I am struggling to try to break out of this and say in this regard there is a sacred place beyond the human element. In this abstraction we are all equal. The fact that we all die and turn to dust means we are equal in the very end. Looking at current events from the view point of this forum we can look at low IQ and behavior as better or worse but we should not kid ourselves that this is “IT”. It is not all of it. A Kogi in my mind is a higher human. A person that is closer to the harmony of the planet is a higher human force closer to the universal in my mind. Yet, then I am doing what you white guys do when you guys put the high IQ white man and his high civilization on a pedestal. We are all equal and that is where it may or may not end. It depends on what layer of abstraction you journey to.

“The Buck Stops Here”: Johnson Positions ‘Brexiteers’ to Take The Fall For A No-Deal Exit”
https://tinyurl.com/y5spwm9x steven Guinness via zero hedge
“It could be argued that global economic institutions operate in a similar manner. It is evident from their communications that they have as part of their agenda plans to introduce digital only currency to supplant physical capital. But they cannot simply foist these plans onto the population. Instead, they require public consent. Change on this scale takes time to gain approval, which is why globalists invariably utilise the model of gradualism when seeking to centralise powers further for their own benefit. Unlike the standard creation of a new building where the intent might simply be to do good, globalists have a track record of using more nefarious means for achieving their ends. Inducing crisis scenarios and presenting themselves as a solution to the subsequent upheaval (the hegelian dialectic approach) is their primary, and I would argue only, method that they have at their disposal.”
“As I have debated previously, globalists require a strawman of sufficient size to hold culpable for the next major economic downturn. Central banks have been tightening monetary policy for several years now, and whilst they have been in a ‘holding pattern‘ so far in 2019, they continue to promote their inflation mandates as being fundamental in how they conduct policy.”
“If anything, ‘Project Fear‘ has emboldened Brexit. Trust in the establishment has been steadily eroding since the financial crisis. People have become less inclined to believe the warnings of economic armageddon. It would not surprise me if this was the intent from the beginning. De-legitimise Brexit and those behind it, but not to the point of their destruction. Where I believe this is going is that we will witness the resurgence in national sovereignty movements and the rise of nationalism being blamed for an impending economic decline, one that will extinguish the post 2008 false recovery. The ‘populists‘ will oversee the immediate fallout, which I consider as inevitable will manifest into the ‘Brexit recession‘. Eventually, when the majority of public sentiment turns against Brexit, the paradigm will shift back to the left in the run up to 2030.”
Davy on Thu, 1st Aug 2019 6:12 am
The problem with conspiracy theories is their reaching to conclusions and weaving of events into a version of reality and then believing it. I do believe there is a force of globalist but I do not see a unified force behind the curtains driving this. It is more a current of political persuasions being manifested in a globalist force. To be sure the Davos crowd is a globalist force of the world’s richest and most powerful dedicated to remaining so. In some respect then this group and related and auxiliary groups have a mandate and with this mandate a basic policy that is pushed through the many lobbyist and those in the deeper state of the global world. Yet, how coordinated and effective is this force. It is evident that there is also the vast population of peoples across the globe who are not rich and connected but who are in aggregate a powerful force through their consumption and ability to effect politics.
So back to conspiracy theories. Is the populist trend we are seeing today a trick of the globalist? I doubt it. They will try to trick it where they can and take credit for its failure but it is the failure of the globalist that have created this monster they face. China and Russia are no longer submitting to the original globalist leadership. So here we see a bifurcation with stranded forces of the original globalist power. China may be playing along with them but only as far as pushing it own agenda of a Chinese global hegemony which is clearly evident from Xi’s new China. The vacuum created by the end of the Pac American Empire and its cultural and economic hegemony has created both opportunities and challenges for those who would like to see globalist power ensuring their power and privilege which equates to affluence.
What is clear is in the dialectic of the greater human current is the populist in some respect will own the coming recession or depression, it may even be worse, just like the globalist are owning their demise with the advent of populism. Trump biggest test is not the crazy Democratic cabal of idiots but the faltering economy. The populist the world over and especially in Europe will also take responsibility rightly, wrongly, or both for the coming economic decline that will surely be very painful. Life is speeding up and as the populist will be blackballed with failure but so will the globalist when they return to pick up the pieces. The reason for this is civilization is coming apart and no force can fix this condition. So we will see a frequency of failure from irrationality and the dysfunction of a declining civilization for whoever tries to own it. You touch the tar baby and it will dirty you.

“A Million Job Cuts In India Point To Economic Turmoil”
https://tinyurl.com/y42ztpgr zero hedge
“Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi faces severe challenges in stimulating a faltering economy as his second term begins. A global synchronized industrial slowdown has hit the Indian automobile and technology sectors somewhat hard, resulting in over a million job cuts in the last several years, reported The Economic Times. India is in a cyclical downturn with no signs of abating. The industrial slowdown has already spread into the auto industry, with volume contraction in the June quarter the steepest since 2001. Indian new car sales plunged 18.4% in May YoY to 308,194 units versus 377,716 units in May 2018. Sales in June were the lowest in 18 years. The auto sector is about half of all manufacturing in the country. About 35 million jobs could be affected if the downturn gains momentum in 2H19. India’s technology sector has also been experiencing financial hardships related to the slowdown. Since 2017, India’s handset industry slashed 250,000 jobs as growth rates stalled, and Chinese competitors have dominated domestic brands. The cut represents about 15% of the handset workforce, included mostly in-store brand promoters who left the industry amid the closure of thousands of small phone-retailing shops. Industry executives and retailers told The Times that India had 400,000 handset retailing outlets, many of which were smaller family-owned stores. “More than 250,000 jobs have been lost over the past two years because many retail shops had closed, in-shop promoters have been laid off, and even distribution chains had also shut shop,” said Pankaj Mohindroo, president of the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).”

Then the winds whipped up, pushing and pushing my car as a layer of thick sand and dust settled on the hood. After several minutes of this, the car started feeling like it was going to come off the ground. Just as I was wondering whether a rare southwest tornado was roaring up, the wind suddenly stopped, and was replaced by heavy, heavy rain that quickly flooded the parking lot. 20 minutes later, the storm disappeared almost as fast as it sprang up. This time, unlike most, there was some real damage left in the wake of the storm. There were hundreds of downed trees, lots of pooled water, and a very unusual power outage. On the reservation land where the storm first started to kick up dust, many power lines fell. The Talking Stick Resort, with its vibrant and colorful lights everyone in the area is used to seeing, fell dark and stayed dark for several weeks. https://tinyurl.com/y5qjut39 energy skeptic
“The benefits of self-driving cars will likely induce vehicle owners to drive more, and those extra miles could partially or completely offset the potential energy-saving benefits that automation may provide, according to a new University of Michigan study. Greater fuel efficiency induces some people to travel extra miles, and those added miles can partially offset fuel savings. It’s a behavioral change known as the rebound effect. In addition, the ability to use in-vehicle time productively in a self-driving car — people can work, sleep, watch a movie, read a book — will likely induce even more travel. Taken together, those two sources of added mileage could partially or completely offset the energy savings provided by autonomous vehicles. In fact, the added miles could even result in a net increase in energy consumption, a phenomenon known as backfire. Traditionally, time spent driving has been viewed as a cost to the driver. But the ability to pursue other activities in an autonomous vehicle is expected to lower this “perceived travel time cost” considerably, which will likely spur additional travel. The U-M researchers estimated that the induced travel resulting from a 38% reduction in perceived travel time cost would completely eliminate the fuel savings associated with self-driving cars. “Backfire — a net rise in energy consumption — is a distinct possibility.”
First, I don’t think automated vehicles will amount to much but lets say they will the backfire will only be partial. In todays world people are trying to lower their foot print at least the ones that will use AI vehicles.

Yesterday’s rejection of this range came on Jay Powell’s press conference. Past Fed chairs have been reluctant to give regular press conferences and for good reason. There’s an old adage:
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
That may be a bit harsh, but Jay Powell did himself no favors with that press conference today. Remember keeping confidence is the Fed’s hidden directive and Jay Powell no doubt lost some confidence yesterday. How this will all play remains to be seen, however keep in mind the technical context and this context may matter greatly.
