Not a whisper of the radiation settling over the Us. Or the rising levels in the Western states. Or the fact that the situation is far from contained, and may never be.

What about cesium 134/137 detected in fish, nuts, and fruits?

Note: cesium 134 detected was found on the shores of California. With atomic code markings related to Japan incidents.

The disaster at Fukishima is far from over. TEPCO is broke and is being propped up by the taxpayers of Japan. The costs and environmental damage will go on for decades.

Nuclear energy is too dangerous and too costly.

It is time for Japan to transition to safe, clean alternative energy sources.

Wind, solar, wave energy, geothermal and second generation biofuels made from algae, cellulose and waste are the future.

As I understand it, a fast-breeder reactor is useful for producing weapons-grade plutonium. Could Japan be moving ahead with their new reactor for geostrategic reasons? Economic and resourece constraints on Japan caused by a variety of factors – the 2008 crash, aging population, peak oil, along with the decimation of their domestic agriculture because of Fukishima, might force themm to look for resources elsewhere. Add to that Chiina’s increasing economic and military might, and the fact that Japan and China don’t have the warmest of historical relations… It might be enought to force them to consider rash options.

No they are not. They can’t come close to matching the amount of energy we use from oil, coal, and nuclear. Without oil you can’t make any of the things you listed.
