Some years ago on this site we described the ordeals we undertook in search of extrascientific cures for the seemingly intractable imbalance of climate. And although that is what we would always ask our spirit guides to give us we never felt answered, although we often took away, without asking for, at least some ineffable balm to help heal our own disabling ennui from this isolating knowledge we share.
At the 2009 COP-15 we roomed at Hildur Jackson’s farm, just outside Copenhagen, with an Estonian Kriya yogi, a Buddhist priest, an African aid worker, an Irish diplomat and Maurice Strong, who only recently passed now, before the start of this Paris summit. Maurice was one of our guides — “satgurus” — in this life’s strange odyssey. Maurice was Founding Executive Director of the UN Environment Program and not a believer in summits as an end in themselves. Rather than setting up his UNEP shop in Paris or New York, he established a global headquarters on what was then a coffee farm at the outskirts of Nairobi. Maurice was Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Human Environment in Stockholm (1972) and the Rio Sustainable Development Summit (1992) and he launched both the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Convention on Biological Diversity.

His partner Hanna invited two Ashaninca shamans to Hildur’s farm and one night convened an impromptu ceremony which was, for us, overpowering and awe-inspiring. While we have yet to experience a vision of universal peace and harmony through international law, as we have often asked the Abuelita to provide, we persist in this long winding path that Maurice laid out for us. We continuously marvel at the places it takes us.
And so it was, when we received a late night call from Helen Samuels, Ambassador of the Muskogee Nation, to join the elders at a prayer ceremony on the Seine, we did not hesitate. Parenthetically let us say that The Farm ecovillage in Tennessee, where we have lived since 1972, inhabits a small 20 square kilometer portion of former 
Choctaw Muskogee land, on the Swan Creek upstream from the Singing River, so when we are summoned by our esteemed landlord we would only naturally go out of respect. Which is not to say we do not respect mysterious guidance at any time, whether in the call of an unusual bird, a voice in our head bearing the words of departed ancestors, a messenger from our plant allies — there are no coincidences.
At the Seine we met Jane Goodall’s Paddle-to-Paris contingent of original Americans and boarded a river cruise boat with them for refreshment and relaxed conversation.

We were joined there by many old friends of like guidance and smudged alongside ecovideographer John D. Liu, Greenpeace founder Rex Weyler, and Sail Transport founder Jan Lundberg. As the boat slipped its moorings and moved out into the current, the elders began a ceremony to join our minds and purpose.
On deck were the Four Worlds International Institute, Embassy of the Earth, Fundaçion Cuatro Mundos, Front Siwa Lima, Salish Sea Foundation, Netherlands Centre for Indigenous People, Compassion Games International, UNO Foundation, Choctaw Musgokee Yamasee Nation, Ihanktonwan Dakota Treaty Commission, Brave Heart Society of Ihanktonwan, Consejo de Visions-Guardianes de la Tierra, Tsleil Waututh Nation, World Conscious Pact, and the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers.
“Science confirms the warnings and prophecies of our wise ancestors and elders,” said Chief Phil Lane Jr., Ihanktonwan Dakota and Chickasaw Nations. “Our new vision is, in fact, an ancient vision. We must leave the destructive path that has created these global challenges, and walk the life enhancing, principle-centered path of protecting and restoring the Human Family, our future generations, and our beloved Mother Earth.”
As we passed beneath the Eiffel Tower, the amazing bridges of Paris, Grand Palais, Petit Palais, Louvre, Les Invalides, Cathedral Notre Dame, Consiergerie, Place de La Concorde, Palais de Chaillot, L’Assemblee National, Musee d’Orsay, and Institut de France, there was a steady drumbeat, the scent of burning sage, and prayers.
We had the sense, however, that we were not at a healing ceremony, rather a funeral. The drums beat a dirge (click here to listen).
When we spoke at LeBourget the day before, we provided the antidote to the poison, and it had been a gift from these people, the ones on the boat. It had cost them 100 million souls, or many times that. It was the gift of good land. It was the ability to make soil, to take nourishment and then to give back; to close the circle.
When our ancestors speak of the sacred hoop, this is it. The closing of a circle. When we are told the hoop is broken, this is the meaning. It is not difficult to understand. You can call it shamanic, or magic, or superstition, but this simple story has kept us alive for millions of years and in close families with our relations, through many ice ages, and even a few periods of significant warming. The Haudenosaunee refer to this as the original instructions, given to us by the Creator. When we built our cities, stopped sharing, locked up the food and medicine, and forgot where it all comes from, we lost our instructions.

Muslims, Jews, and Christians had a much more integrated mutual cultural contribution to each others history than many know or care to know about. At the highest levels these cultures at various times shared knowledge and understanding intimately with the most learned in all the groups. It was greed, corruption, and petty politics that drove them apart at various times. This is true within the religions themselves.
The Muslim faith and cultural contribution to our greater human history should be respected. It is the radicals on all sides and those who benefit from discord that want conflict. It will only be some kind of peace in the Mid East that will allow nations to face what is coming. I am not optimistic.

My admiration of the Kogi is relevant to our situation and it is your disregard for this point that is representative of the false belief in human exceptionalism of technology and development as our only hope. Technology and development is what got us here. We cannot rely solely on it to get us out. We also must have some spiritual guidance. Our only hope at this point is humility and recognition of our existential catch 22. Survival at this point is based on tough decisions not easy ones.
Blaming other races and religions will have no bearing on survival at this point. We must cooperate at some level now that we all rely on each other. Your blame and complain game is what will drive us apart from mutual support. I doubt we can take care of each other at the international level. This collapse will localize nations. Nations will turn inward and deal with collapse in their own way. What we must avoid is making destructive decisions at the international level that will exacerbate the collapse for all of us at the national and local level. War either a military or trade war fits this category of poor decision. Any war will destroy an already fragile system and end any hope of a long emergency of adaptation.
At some point immigration will be fought everywhere because everywhere will be in caught up in this collapse process. We have basic nodes of survival globally. As a simple example some nations produce and exports food. Oil producers export oil. Minerals and products are exported by others. Financial stability is maintained in certain financial centers. There is no decoupling from this without collapse. There will be a forced decoupling by the circumstances of a collapse process but this need not be completely destructive. Much depends on degree and duration of this process for our survival
We are going to suffer decay and collapse but it is how and how much that matters. Blaming races and religions will not solve this issue. This is systematic and beyond race and religion. Thee, does it matter if the white race survives? I see all races ending and a new multicultural mix of survivors. This will happen if we have a quick collapse and or a long emergency. I am not so sure the white race should survive considering some of the terrible sins the white race has committed but the reality is skin color should not be used as a sign of guilt or greatness. It is what is in the heads of that skin.
I think we need to get beyond race at this point. Race and religion are increasingly irrelevant. What is important now is a post modernism of survival. We need to embrace the realities and truth found in nature not our abstract titillations of higher learning or cultural traditions. I respect your opinion because just as is the case with religion and ideologies people believe and relate to the world through these abstract systems. My point is we are entering a paradigm shift of our existential. We are on the cusp of extinction and maybe an evolution of a few million survivors. What will result will look little like the landscape we see now.

The history of evolution is replete with such “terrible sins.” In addition, these “sins” (another religious word) seem specific to Whites only to those who watch TV or read the academic publications by useful idiots and actually believe it all. Somehow we never hear or read about the “terrible sins” of other races unless we dig deep into the annals of history. My point is that it is ultimately the religious obsession with the “sinfulness” of Whites that brings in money and power to the propagandists, religious or political. Mentioning, say, the cannibalism of New Guineans brings only a yawn and a switch of the channel.
The law of evolution is survival of the fittest — that is, of those creatures best adapted to the ecological niches in which they find themselves. Evolution says nothing about “terrible sins.” It is concerned with survival only.
I could not care less about some wretch wallowing in a Calcutta slum or in a bombed-out Syrian village (however much I detest Ø’s insane war on Syria — or on Libya, etc., for that matter). I simply want survival for my type, which is the only type shown to be adaptable up to the point where its own religiously-driven genosuicidism and lack of will to live has gotten out of hand. Thee, I of course know the survival of the white race does not depend on “sin”. I was postulating with human feeling of ethics and morality like someone sings or makes poetry. I was not being scientific. Nature could give a shit about this except that it is human nature so it does have a place in nature as a subset. Man is natural even though we think we are exceptionally separate.
The law of evolution is the survival of the fittest with some “luck”. It is both rational and irrational in the case of humans who can self-reflect and dream. In that case the irrational is a mutation and luck is the randomness. I disagree evolution says nothing about terrible sins. Terrible sins may be human in nature and concerning nature may or may not be beneficial to nature. Yet, humans do have a rational side that equates sins with that which is not beneficial and that which is destructive. In this sense of man being part of nature his thoughts and actions with sin have a natural evolutionary ends in this regards. They affect nature and we can say sins are a human effect.
We can at the human level consider industrial man a sin against nature. In that sense modern man is by nature a destructive force to nature’s ecosystem. We are more an extinction species or better, ecosystem disruptors. We destroy natural complexity by exerting our own complexity.
I respect your view of race and creed but only because it is a force in man and nature. As I said above man is natural so issues of race and creed affect nature’s outcome in the human realm and by extension the natural ecosystem humans dwell in. You Thee, believe it so, in that sense it has a reality. I believe in it because you do. In the case of the macro, humans make it so. I do not agree with it as my personal belief system but that is another story that also has meaning in nature as being natural.
We are all created equal. We die equally. We decay the same. We grow with the same nutrition. Our mental world may be different but that is a very small subset of reality. It may be very powerful now in man’s great moment in history but in the grand scheme we are no more important or less important than a cyanobacteria. Human civilization is likely nothing more than a passing force of extinction and change. Just as cyanobacteria created a snowball earth we are creating a runaway greenhouse effect.
Human knowledge is the handmaiden of extinction. Knowledge without control is a vicious circle because it takes knowledge to control knowledge to control knowledge. This is a vicious spiral of separateness that only is corrected by disposing of knowledge. Spirituality disposes of knowledge. Spirituality will always be trumped by knowledge. It is only through nature’s limits and occasional extinctions or near extinctions that this capability of knowledge is limited.
Human knowledge is limited by nature. Nature likes knowledge because knowledge at some point is destructive through duality. Nature has a need for destructiveness that allows vital change. I say nature “likes” as if nature has consciousness. It has consciousness because humans do. What nature has is much higher than consciousness and consciousness is a part of this.
Knowledge is likely only an insignificant tool of extinction which is a tool of evolution. Nature’s essence is beyond man understanding and always will be. The forces in a black hole are this essence. Knowledge is a human black hole.

Thee, let’s just say you are right for the sake of argument. My point is it will likely not matter in the relatively soon of 10-20 years. Our global population will have shrunk or will be shrinking to 1BIL or less. This period will leave political correctness and race concerns in the dumpster. People of all colors will be stressed. The race relation issues will be more about a struggle and fight for survival. It will not be your intellectual reasons. Some races will combine in alliances of convenience for security. We see this in prisons now. The same races will battling each other because of location or other non-color issues. Remember the American Civil War.
My point is the politically correct and intellectual reasons for hate will be dumbed down and way down and coopted by the need for survival. This will happen in step as economic wellbeing declines. “The point of war is not to die for your country. It is to get the other poor bastard to die for his country.” Thee, great point but the real war is with nature and we think it is between ourselves. We fight among ourselves because we have made war on nature. So yes, you are right to say our different civilizations at the level of race at some point and currently will engage in a war of survival. My point is man’s war with nature is the problem of why we have race problems. We cannot win the war with nature. War among ourselves just distracts us from our lost war with nature. If we make peace with nature and accept her conditions of peace we could within a generation still have a species albeit with vastly lower complexity and population.
