The technician working on the project said Saturday pumping had again been halted and a review of the data so farwas under way. “Right now, I would not be optimistic,” the technician, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the effort. But he added, that if another attempt at the junk shot were to succeed, “that would turn things around.”
“People want to know which technique is going to work, and I don’t know. It hasn’t been done at these depths and that’s why we’ve had multiple options working parallel.”

January 10, 1901 Lucas Gusher in Spindletop, Texas gushed out 100,000 bpd for 9 days, opening the dawn of oil civilization.
110 years later, on April 20, 2010 another historical gusher -this time is a deep, deep sea gusher- has been gushing out 12,000-19,000 bpd for at least 40 days by now, and may continue til…it dry, marking the dusk of oil civilizztion.
So, by Darwin evolution theory, next time when you boil crawfishes, shrimps, crabs caught from the gulf of Mexico, don’t expect to see the familiar red color from them any more. And red-lobsters, too, will be replaced with black-lobsters. 🙂

OMG what a disaster — $%^&^ We need to begin reducing our dependence on oil.
Our energy security and national security demand that we look for alternatives to oil. We need to stop sending money to countries that want to do us harm. Let’s move to alternative fuels and electric vehicles and reduce our need for oil.

BP needs to look at the direction the company has taken the last few years. The new head of BP needs to go. He has taken the company away from looking at alternative fuels (remember beyond petroleum). BP’s safety record has declined during his tenure and under his leadership. BP’s board of directors needs to look at the changes in management the last few years and correct the problems.
BP once had a reputation as a safety and environmentally responsible company. Look what the new management team has done to that reputation.

BP is still trying to tap this wayward well when they should be plugging it. When the “Top Hat” was in place and it could not tap the well they abandoned it. They should have pumped comcrete into the top hat plugging it but they didn’t. Greed to in the way. Below is a link to a possible fix.

What do you suggest they do-?

BP needs to fire it’s top management team.
It’s board of directors needs to look at how they have been managing the company for the last several years.
A terrible safety record leading to the worst oil spill ever. People need to be fired and some probably should be in jail.
This lack of concern for safety and the environment is criminal. How can these people live with themselves? The death of the workers and the environmental destruction is criminal.
I once thought that BP was a safety and environmentally minded company
(remember those BP – Beyond Petroleum ads on TV). The current chief executive has changed that and put BP on a downward path of destruction. The top management of BP needs to be fired and the board of directors needs some new members that actually provide oversight.
