Be Thankful On Earth Day For Oil & Gas

Be Thankful On Earth Day For Oil & Gas thumbnail

Today is Earth Day, the annual celebration of Mother Earth and all she provides to us.

So I just wanted to spend a few moments and words here urging you all to take time out of your busy days to thank Mother Earth for the following:

  • Thank Mother Earth for giving us the natural gas that heats millions of our homes, provides many gigawatts of abundant and affordable electricity, and cooks billions of meals around the planet each and every day;
  • Thank Mother Earth for the gasoline that powers your automobiles, the jet fuel that enables millions of Americans to travel to other cities, states and countries at a moment’s notice, the butane and propane that fuel millions of homes and outdoor grills, and the oil that lubricates the engines that power the world;
  • Thank Mother Earth for the natural gas that provides feedstock for the fertilizers that enable the world’s farmers to feed more than 7 billion human  beings on a daily basis;
  • Thank Mother Earth for the compressed and liquified natural gas that increasingly powers the trains and trucks that deliver consumer goods to the right locations at the right times to keep our nation’s economy moving in an efficient manner;
  • Thank Mother Earth for the petroleum-based products that allow us to brush our teeth with high quality toothpaste, make-up our faces and lips with a vast array of makeup and lipstic products, sooth our lips with lip balms, and make ourselves and the big burly guy sitting next to us on a bus smell better with deodorants and anti-perspirants;
  • Thank Mother Earth for the plastics – derived from petroleum products – that touch and improve our lives in a thousand different ways every day;
  • And while you’re at it, thank Mother Earth for the blessing of the shale oil and natural gas boom that has in recent years powered the United States economy, and allowed it to slowly and surely move out of a deep and lingering economic recession.

Mother Earth blessed the human race with vast resources of oil and natural gas, and it is our ability to figure out how to produce and use those blessings in such a wide variety of applications and products that by and large enabled us to create the modern society in which we all live and prosper.  The ability to keep supply lines open and supply our army, navy and air force with petroleum fuels also played a key role the Allies’ ability to beat back the Axis nations and emerge victorious in World War II.

Oil and natural gas are an enduring part of the natural life cycle on planet Earth.  On this and every Earth Day, that is worth taking a moment to remember and celebrate.

Happy Earth Day, everyone!

    This idot, Steve Forbes still believes he’s Presidential
    material.

    Forbes magazine editor in chief Steve Forbes will be the featured guest at the fifth-annual Robb Kelley spring fundraiser for the Polk County GOP.

    The event is set for 7 p.m. on May 20 at the downtown Marriott Hotel, says an invitation from organizers Cam Sutton, Steve Roberts and Bob Burnett.

    It will be Forbes’ first appearance in Iowa since 2010, when he headlined the Kelley dinner in August that year.

    Forbes ran for president in 1996 and 2000, calling for a flat income tax. He’s the CEO of Forbes Media and appears on the Fox News television show “Forbes on Fox,” a half-hour financial show with guests from the editorial staff of Forbes magazine.

    The Robb Kelley fundraiser benefits the Republican Party of Polk County and GOP candidates running for election in 2014, the invitation says. Tables of 10 are $750 to $1,000.

    Aprils fools? WTF? Toothpaste-toxic, lipstick-toxic, deoderants FFS! I stopped using that garbage ages ago. Useless and toxic again. Every time I see a new article posted from Forbes I am convinced it is the worst ever. Then the new one comes out and Im proven wrong all over again.

    The author is clearly one sick puppy-he needs help from a mental health specialist. That or hes deliberately trolling. I suspect both myself, but YMMV depending on if you share his sick world-view…

    Leave it to Forbes to twist the virtuous meaning of Earth Day into slavish praise of the very thing(s) that are destroying planet earth. They do seem to getting progressively sicker over at Forbes, don’t they?

    Praise Gaia. Her humble petroleum servants toil to produce carbon as bees do honey.

    It is precisely the sick, greedy, lying bastards like this, that should be held accountable for their actions. Unfortunately for future generations, these a-holes will mostly be dead and buried, by the time the wrath of their destruction rains down upon our planet.

    If enough people wake up soon enough though, they might not be so lucky.

    Forbes — a member of the top 1% spewing propaganda for the fossil fuel industry…………

    The greedy top 1% are never satisfied……..they want it all…………even if it destroys the planet.

    OK, guys, chill just a little for a moment. Is the message really that bad or that bad because it is from F**K Wacks Forbes. I ask you to tell me you are not in some way shape or form thankful for fossil fuels. We are conversing now because of them. Look at all we have…….I guess I have to say no to my previous thoughts and I have to agree with you all. FF’s have destroyed man’s spirit, destroyed mother earth, and are leading our species to the brink so “No” to FF’s. I will live life best I can but I hate modern life deep down for what our species through technology, FF’s, and knowledge have done. There is nothing to be proud of nothing!

    “Mother Earth” is about as real as the Easter Bunny and “she” didn’t bless us with anything. Deposits of oil and gas just happened. The idea that the stuff that’s most likely to kill all of us is “a blessing” is offensive.

    Beer, How can you comment on the spiritual and that is what Mother Earth is to me.

    Your words reek of dog feces, so shut the fuck up.

    Brainwashed turd.

    Thanks for, ” … the petroleum-based products that allow us to brush our teeth with high quality toothpaste, make-up our faces and lips with a vast array of makeup and lipstic products, sooth our lips with lip balms … deodorants and anti-perspirants … ”

    The medievals + hand tools left behind some nice towns and buildings out of common rocks. A trillion barrels of oil = nothing to show for it.
