Just barely into the new year and the LNG industry found itself in the spotlight again, with many unprecedented new events and shifts to evolve. Notwithstanding that LNG is slated to be more global than ever, we just cannot not give US LNG exporters credit for the boost in their LNG supplies to EU, amplified by the strong geo-political headwinds and macroeconomic impacts. |
After US surpassed Qatar and Australia as the most prolific LNG exporter for the last three months, @Daniel Yergin states, “Last month, for the first time ever, U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas to Europe exceeded Russia’s pipeline deliveries.” After acknowledging the scale of the US LNG potential, we can’t lose sight of the imparity between the LNG supply and regasification capacity of EU. By carefully weighing up the EU regasification capabilities(with no large spare capacity) against the new LNG additions, one would very easily have the impression that under the scenario of more intense supplies, the former would come up short on absorbing any significant extra supply. To exemplify more, “Western Europe’s regasification capacity was operating at 100% last month, and spare capacity to accommodate a future increase in import volumes is minimal.”, @Rystad Energy said, adding that “LNG imports into Western Europe totalled 294 million cubic metres per day in January 2022, a new all-time high utilising 100% of the region’s regasification capacity.”
Just as @Irina Slav claimed “Storage, however, is filling up, which means that soon, LNG shipments from the United States might start to decline.”
Somehow, getting into the details indicates that EU total regasification capacity reaches 220BCM., whereas the average regas rate is lying somewhere between 550 and 630 mcm/day, also not to forget the pipeline connections with the Terminals and the intrinsic limitations of the LNG storage facilities (roughly 100 – 120 000m3 per storage tank), all this getting us to the conclusion that any additional significant import of LNG could not be handled by the EU Import facilities, even if EU LNG Terminal Operators jack up their regasification to their nameplate maximum utilization rate.
In consideration of the foregoing, another serious topic is tabled for discussion, e.g., the falling and insufficient investments in low-carbon fuel infrastructure in EU, exacerbated by the engaged transition in the energy sector, which only makes the energy security more vulnerable and structurally undersupplied, whilst everybody else is competing to cast the first stone at the hydrocarbons. Chasing too much the future would drive us away from the present-day issues, such as the energy conundrum we live in and opposing the energy integrity to the environmental sustainability.

I a very pragmatic view on all this as I have stated elsewhere, to whit the European powers are happy to play this “Bad Russia” game as it casts the blame on a convenient enemy for something they would have been forced to do in a few years anyway. To power-down off fossil fuels.
They could have told the pubic the truth years ago and begun the process when there was time for people to insulate their lives from a lot of the fallout. But that would have empowered the people, and as far as I can see the aim of these elitists in Europe is to enslave the people.
Imagine a Europe with no coal or gas or oil? It will happen eventually of course but I can’t begin to understand how life there will carry on. Before coal the forests up there were being seriously depleted due to all the demand for heating and industry. The population is 10x greater now.

I’m over techie dreams, 90% never come to fruition, most are just money making schemes to lure investors so the techHeads can buy Maserati to tool around silicon valley in.
Yes Adaption is the key, in past history, before we had cheap energy to modify our environments, a major adaptive choice was to move. Some suggest the mass immigration from the middle east and Africa into Europe that has been ongoing for a decade and more is driven by food insecurity and the ever hotter climates down there. That could reverse with northerners upping stakes and moving to Spain etc where less energy is needed to survive a harsh winter.
There is a cool vid on youtube about “Camp Century” A US base built in the cold war up in Greenland. It was doomed from the start because the ice is constantly in motion but they made a go of it for some time. With the help of a nuclear reactor lol. I’m not a fan of Nuclear but I bet the French are feeling a lot better than the Germans about the Winter this year.

Key Points
Deep-rooted problems with France’s nuclear-heavy energy strategy are raising serious questions about its winter preparedness.
A long-standing source of national pride, France generates roughly 70% of its electricity from a nuclear fleet of 56 reactors, all operated by state-owned utility EDF.
In recent months, however, more than half of EDF’s nuclear reactors have been shut down for corrosion problems, maintenance and technical issues.

Hitler (dare I mention his name so early in a thread) was a young deranged psychopath when he came to power, but he was enabled into that power by all the old deadwood of the German parliament. Old burnt out men that had failed. I think they knew quite well what he planned, he never made a secret of it, he wrote a book on it FFS. I think they wanted all that but they just didn’t have the balls to step out and do it themselves.
So they hired a gang of thugs and let them rule the roost. They had nothing to lose, Germany was heading out the back door anyway.

The Nazis never received more than 37 percent of the popular vote in any free national election. In the 1932 election, Paul von Hindenburg handily beat Hitler and remained president of Germany.
Hitler came to power in 1933 as German chancellor, an appointed position, only after Hindenburg asked him to form a coalition government, which he was able to. Hitler achieved the ultimate power as German fuhrer (leader) only after Hindenburg’s death in 1934 and legislative action of the German Reichstag, which was controlled by the Nazis. A vote on the transfer of power did, however, receive 90 percent support from the public, due in part to intimidation and fear of communists.

“A secret question hovers over us, a sense of disappointment, a broken promise we were given as children about what our adult world was supposed to be like. I am referring not to the standard false promises that children are always given (about how the world is fair, or how those who work hard shall be rewarded), but to a particular generational promise—given to those who were children in the fifties, sixties, seventies, or eighties—one that was never quite articulated as a promise but rather as a set of assumptions about what our adult world would be like. And since it was never quite promised, now that it has failed to come true, we’re left confused: indignant, but at the same time, embarrassed at our own indignation, ashamed we were ever so silly to believe our elders to begin with.
Where, in short, are the flying cars? Where are the force fields, tractor beams, teleportation pods, antigravity sleds, tricorders, immortality drugs, colonies on Mars, and all the other technological wonders any child growing up in the mid-to-late twentieth century assumed would exist by now? Even those inventions that seemed ready to emerge—like cloning or cryogenics—ended up betraying their lofty promises. What happened to them?”

Mon, 2023 Jan 19: big US step toward depression. Last month, in December, while the Democrats still had control of the House of Representatives, and thus the power of the national purse, with many Republicans as accomplices, they passed a $1.7 trillion vote-buying boondoggle, pushing the national debt past $31.4 trillion. This is of course a debt unpayable even by superduperland with its dollar as the global reserve currency. But in order to pretend that it can be paid, the same Dems are currently demanding that the Republican Party, which following Novembers elections now controls the House, raise the national debt limit so that the Empire of Lies can impose an increase in economic fraud on American taxpayers. On cue, a few Republicans are pretending to refuse to agree to the increase. Since this would mean a technical default on the regimes ability to borrow more money and inflate the grand Ponzi scheme yet more, the playbook-following Democrats accuse the few economically sensible recalcitrants of cruelty and planning an American collapse (grandma over the cliff, &c.). To be sure, the U.S. defaulted once before. Back in 1933, President F.D. Roosevelt first legally stole all Americans gold, the basis of the dollar, from Americans, then debased the paper dollar from its value of 1/20th goldgram to 1/35th goldgram, thereby massively defaulting on the national debt of that time. Everyone has forgotten that fraud, of course. Later, in 1971, President Nixon detached the dollar from gold completely, making the currency strictly faith based. But any kind of a default today, however it happened, would mean the end of godzilla as we know it. Every nation except those allied with Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS), which are devising their own reserve currency, would feel the shock of the deflated Yankee balloon, and the Empire would lose immensely in all sorts of ways.
The fact is that, sooner or later, the debt limit will be raised, and the fraud and the kleptocracy will be saved. Allegedly the Federal Reserve could, in the absence of said raising from the dead, prestidigitate some tricks to keep the patient on life support until June or even a bit longer. That will give the regimes mafiosi a lot of time to confuse and blind the citizenry and the world before actually raising the limit, so as to magnify the eventual collapse when it does come.
After all, its what the people want.

For the techie dreamers” “…The idea of a totalitarian control grid is familiar to science fiction fans, but imaginative fiction stretches boundaries for artistic purposes. Utopia (including dystopia) is a form of science fiction. There are crucial aspects in the plan for a technocratic dystopia that, as fearful as it is, cannot be realized….Is this all going to be done by AI and robots? Computer networks and servers depend on complex supply chains. CPU chips are made mostly in Taiwan, memory chips in South Korea, and hard drives at several places including North America. A single factory to produce semiconductors costs over $1 billion to construct and involves technical expertise from many different fields….The elites’ version of the world where Bill and Klaus have nice things with a high tech control grid crushing everyone cannot be built in the form which they imagine. Bill and Klaus cannot possibly make all the stuff they want on their own, even with robots. Their vision does not include economic calculation….”

And North Beach never stopped being mysterious

Office right around the corner from the bead store where I found myself daily, picking up supplies
How many late nights did we haunt the Store
buying scads of new poems from all corners of the earth then head to the all-night Tower Records full of drag queens & revolutionaries, to get a few songs
And dig it, City Lights still here, like some old lighthouse though all the rest is gone,
the poetry’s moved upstairs, the publishing office right there now too & crowds of people
one third my age or less still haunt the stacks seeking out voices from all quarters

“Where, in short, are the flying cars? Where are the force fields, tractor beams… What happened to them?”
I personally never believed any of that would come to pass, that was Science-Fiction, of which I am a big fan, but I never confused it with reality.
Many use the rationale that because certain Sci-Fi (typically from the 1930’s) came to pass, that all science fiction would. To me this simply points to the fact that those people are uneducated. Anyone with a decent high school grounding in the sciences could tell most of it was impractical if not downright impossible under physical laws.
But the delusions really kicked off with the internet, and with mouse-pushers at places like Google who were making millions of dollars moving pixels around on a screen. To them, “Anything is possible” Add the hucksters making millions off delusional startups and you end up with a society that can’t tell it’s left hand from it’s right.
That’s where we are now. People singing the praises of shale oil like it’s a savior even though it has never made a red cent in profit or lifted living standards for the average Joe like cheap oil did in the 1930s~70’s. People believing the space shuttle was a huge leap forward when in fact it was a pointless homage to the rocket-liner in the movie 2000. People believing everything that comes out of the mouth of Elon musk, the prophet of tech who took the mantel from Steve Jobs, who was nothing more than a savvy businessman riding a wave.
In 50 years it will dusty roads and people huddled in broken down old homes eating vegetables from the backyard. On the horizon will be the gleam of lights from the elite enclave, those enjoying the last of the functional tech. It doesn’t have to be that way, but it will. All empires collapse into ruin and ours will be no different.

“You want to know what this was really all about? The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and Black people. Do you understand what I’m saying?
“We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or Black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and Blacks with heroin and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities.
“We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Actually, all over the world, young “GMO-JABBED” fools are dying of heart attacks by the thousands. Athletes are dropping dead on the playing field. Airline pilots are dying in the air. Kids are dropping dead all over. Birthrates are dropping in the countries that used the mRNA shit, mostly Western. The genocide will not be able to be covered up for much longer.
Those most likely to survive and reproduce are the ones that refused the jabs and took the shunning and job loss consequences. Now the courts are filling up with lawsuits against the “legal” drug pushers. So be it. Well deserved.
Interesting that the least jabbed continent is Africa. I suspect that they got their immunity the natural way and will be the winners.
BTW: Here in the Ps, we had a choice of the US mRNA shit, Russian Sputnik and Chinese Sinovac jabs. I chose the Sinovac. the US mRNA shit sounded dangerous from the beginning. Sputnik was not available where I live when I got my jab, but the Sinovac was. No problems after two years. ^_^
