As the world’s attention focuses on the perils of oil exploration, we present Richard Sears’ talk from early February 2010. Sears, an expert in developing new energy resources, talks about our inevitable and necessary move away from oil. Toward … what?
About Richard Sears
Richard Sears thinks hard about the post-oil world. He’s a visiting scientist at MIT, after a long career as a VP at Shell

Some smart people are just really stupid.
Ha Ha, The stone age didn’t end cause we ran out of stones, Ha ha, yah, we’ve all heard that one. No one ever mentions that stones didn’t provide energy during that time period. Thus the argument is irrelevant.
We have exploited oil for all it’s worth. Expanding in all directions exponentially: population, economic production, energy use, food production, pollution, etc. This was only possible due to the incredible energy density of oil.
We may survive into the future, but much of the growth of the last century will not be sustainable without oil. It’s really just that simple.
No MIT degree required to understand that.

Abaloni (or is it Abalone) shells? Do they even burn…or have I missed the point? Or is there some relationship between Abaloni shells and Shell Oil. Please, someone explain.
