Reimagine our priorities

Consumption

Times of crisis stress a culture, and produce shifts in the balance of power within a society. As the Black Plague burned through Europe in the 1300’s, killing many peasants, it created a labor shortage that forcing society to shift from a feudal economy to one based on wages.

When the Soviet Union collapsed at the end of 1991, it adversely affecting the countries they subsidized. A 2006 documentary, “The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil”, describes how Cuba dealt with the loss of most of their fossil fuels and agricultural chemicals, such as fertilizers and pesticides. In addition to transforming their transportation system, the whole country mobilized to shift to 100% organic agriculture, which was accomplished within 6 months.

Despite being a socialist country, there were distinct class differences within the society, and peasant farmers had been at the low end of the scale. But during the transformation, called “The Special Period”, these farmers skills were recognized as essential to the entire society, and they become national heroes.

As COVID-19 burns through our society, we are beginning to recognize the value of previously marginalized sectors of our own work force. Certainly, the doctors and nurses on the front lines in the hospitals are being celebrated, but doctors have always been in the upper tier of the workforce. However, nurses are as essential to actual health care, and haven’t always been as honored or rewarded. In addition, the rest of the hospital staff, aides, housekeeping, janitors, and food service, are critical as well. These people are risking their lives every day, to help keep Americans healthy, yet are rarely rewarded appropriately.

All the employees of the various Emergency Medical Services are putting their lives at risk, and some don’t even have health insurance as part of their employment, even though they are essential, skilled workers.

Another critical sector in this fight is the staff at nursing homes and assisted living facilities, both private and public. These establishments house, in close proximity, citizens most at risk to the worst effects of the virus. The staff is generally low wage, low status, maybe minimally trained, and may not have health insurance, yet they are essential to the health of their residents.

In the larger economy, we see that grocery store workers are essential to our survival, yet are another group fairly low in the economy, measured by wages and benefits. Further down the food chain are the factory workers who process the food, and the field workers who grow and harvest food. Many in this workforce are immigrants, perhaps undocumented and disparaged by “patriots”, working for low wages and few benefits. New clusters of infected people have appeared at meat processing plants in mid-western red states with no shelter in place orders, working in conditions which force very close contact. Plants are having to close, reducing meat availability. As the virus spreads into these groups of workers, we are beginning to appreciate that they are also providing essential services.

The virus has squeezed our economy, highlighting what is really essential and what is not. People who provide health care and food are essential. Everyone else is down the list, which is generally the opposite of how our “normal” economic system values work. If nothing else comes out of this pandemic, I hope that we restructure our economy to reward people who are actually important to survival. At the very least, we see the advantage of everyone having living wages and access to competent health care, not insurance, but the actual care.

In the last four weeks, more than 22 million people have filed for unemployment, while the DOW average has grown 30 percent. This mismatch between what is considered important in our economy, and the reality of how people live, demonstrates a profound distortion. For example, we have a national leader who lacks compassion or empathy, focused entirely on reelection and enhancing his brand value, to the point of holding up relief checks to add his name. Contrast that to an overwhelmed nurse, perhaps wearing home-made protective gear because the richest country in the world still can’t get that together, holding the hand of a stranger while they die. America can do better. Regime change is a moral imperative.

Yeah, the Commie Dems will be sooo much better. (It should be remembered that F.D. Roosevelt, who loved Uncle Joe Stalin, made the Great Depression much worse than it would have been, had he never been elected.)

And, of course, we no longer have the physical — let alone the psychological — strength, stamina or resources to claw our way back up to a truly healthy state of society.  And we have millions of parasites from outhouselands sucking our blood and demanding that we go extinct.  Pelosi will rejoice.

50,000 initial field job applications, in the end 112 showed up. The sad truth is, nobody in western Europe can match the field productivity of Eastern Europeans. Normally 80,000 of those bring in most of the harvest in Britain, but Brexit and Corona prevented most from coming this year.

How about a field conscription, mr Johnson?

    No more office jobs:

The possibilities to reclaim large parts of North-America for European civilization are endless. And we have non-white fools like FamousDrScanlon standing by to deliver us these territories on a silver platter. Just continue making yourself impossible, you idiot.

Bring it on your “SocialRevolution”, “CW2”, “North-American troubles” or whatever you want to call what Kunstler called in his latest column: “Summer’s here and the time is right for fighting in the street…”

640 million from continental Europe and 2 billion Chinese can’t wait for North-America to descend in an XXL Yugoslavia scenario, with “inbred whites” yearning to be freed by Eurasia from their parasites, their oligarch owners sicked upon them.

How did neocon Michael Ledeen put it again?

Every ten years or so, Eurasia needs to pick up some small crappy non-white like FamousDrScanlon and throw him against the wall, just to show the world we mean business

All we in Europe need to do is wait for FamousDrScanlon and Anonymouse types to shoot themselves in the foot and place themselves outside the white world by thinking they can afford an anti-white uprising and win from it.

FamousDrScanlon proves the point that you cannot ignore inter-ethnic hatred, regardless of how hard the Soros-types agitated against racism, the major stumbling block against the idea of One World in their kosher pockets. Mass third world immigration will be the single most important cause why the gang of Soros globalists are going to lose their last geopolitical stronghold USofA, after they lost Europe first (thanks Dolfie!) and Russia after (thanks Joe, thanks Vlad!).

Without realizing it and unintentionally, FamousDrScanlon and Anonymouse are doing the bidding of European interests. They are our little ticking IEDs under the empire.

It is already possible to create plane fuel out of CO2 from the air and renewable electricity. The fuel is 3 times more expensive, leading to tickets that are up to 2 times as expensive, like in the old days of flying:

    https://www.panam.org/images/Books/BookCovers/pan-am-jet-set-cover.jpg

We need a total reset of flying, not a restoration of BAU.

Sometimes, in order for a tree to thrive, you need to prune it back in order to give it a second lease for life.

Imposing the restriction to use biofuel (or pay for the planting of trees to compensate for the CO2) you can put fossil fuel at a distance and give a boost to the chances of hydrogen and/or batteries/hybrid-flying.

Planes coming from Asia or America, refusing to tank bio-fuel should be taxed for the difference.

“China Brokerage Forced To Retract Report Admitting Unemployment Rate Is 20%”
    https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/china-brokerage-forced-retract-report-admitting-unemployment-rate-20

“Is China’s unemployment rate 4 times higher than the official one? While we would be the last to accuse China of lying about anything – and Jack Dorsey would agree – a Chinese securities brokerage may have been foolish enough to admit the truth about China’s dismal economic reality… followed by promptly retracting an analyst report Monday that put the country’s real jobless rate above 20%, far greater than the official number. According to an April 24 report by analysts from Shandong-based Zhongtai Securities, as many as 70 million people could have lost their jobs due to the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, translating into an actual unemployment rate of around 20.5%. The surge in unemployment, according to Bloomberg which saw the report, was due to the outsize impact of the pandemic on services and small businesses, which provide the bulk of job opportunities, they said. “The urban surveyed unemployment rate is obviously flawed in depicting the unemployment situation, because of China’s special condition that there is a very large group of migrant workers and that the urban surveyed unemployment rate couldn’t truly reflect the employment situation of migrant workers,” the analysts admitted. There were about 50 million fewer working migrant workers in the first quarter compared to last year, part of whom were not included in the survey, according to the 11-page original report.”

Here is a good thread from over on the moderated side:

The “Planet of the Humans” documentary thread
    https://peakoil.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1447244#p1447244

Just watched the “Planet of the Humans” documentary. Its up for FREE to watch on You tube and there are NO commercials. be careful if you search for it, as another movie has that title too- here is the link to the full show:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zk11vI-7czE&t=2s
I debated whether to put this thread under the Environment or the Peak Oil Topic category. It mainly deals with how “green energy” really isn’t- so it could go both ways. A pure Peak Oiler would find the whole thing entirely familiar. Leftest film maker Michael Moore got into a bit of trouble with environmentalists by helping to produce this for director Jeff Gibbs and some distributors have pulled support after an outcry by green groups. Currently, the full video is on You Tube but I don’t know how long that will last. This is the best Peak Oil/Environmental movie I have seen in over 10 years. I highly recommend viewing this- especially while it is still up.

    The basics:
The documentary follows director Jeff Gibbs as he looks at how green energy has been co-opted and consumed by capitalism. Gibbs himself is from Michigan and much of the footage is too. Its pretty stunning how environmentally damaging green has become. The video segments are so powerful i can’t begin to describe them- this is one of those things you just have to watch to really understand.
    Details:
*Most of green is actually bio-fuel, which is actually cutting down forests
*Billionaires have rushed into every aspect of green energy and corporatized it
*Most big environmental groups are funded by fossil fuel related businesses
*Renewable energy really isn’t renewable at all and depends on massive fossil fuel investment
*Wind and solar projects don’t really last that long and scar nature very much
*People are getting filthy rich off of the green revolution
    Some scenes that stood out:
*The desolation of abandoned solar farms
*The enormousness of wind turbines and how difficult it will be to dispose of them when they die (as is happening)
*The mass destruction of forests for bio-fuels
*The “celebration of solar” concert that had to switch to powering the music band by generator when it started raining
*The totally misleading commercials about how clean renewable energy is

    The final takeaway:
Environmentalism needs to go back to its roots and emphasize a reduction in population and per person energy consumption.
    Humans need to accept limits

Here is my belief that humans can accept limits: the odds are less than this…..

“Planet of the Humans, a worthless documentary about renewable energy”

You expect such a cloggo response because people invested in the fantasy and others whose livelihoods depends on them are all bought in. No honest debate on the topic just dismissals of failure. Renewables are vital to the future but the hype is wrong and represents bad policy of a direction that will fail becuase it does not respect economics and physics. It discounts behavioral changes and offers techno optimism instead. Europe has made some good investments in renewables as has China and the US. There is good policy but the great transition clowns are science deniers and think pigs will fly. The EU will be lucky to hold together and economically its standard of living will resemble cloggo’s Slovenia as the global economy transitions to globalism2.

PARIS/TOULOUSE (Reuters) – European planemaker Airbus (AIR.PA) gave its starkest assessment yet of damage from the coronavirus crisis, telling the company’s 135,000 employees to brace for potentially deeper job cuts and warning its survival is at stake without immediate action. In a letter to staff late last week, Chief Executive Guillaume Faury said Airbus was “bleeding cash at an unprecedented speed” and that a recent drop of a third or more in production rates did not reflect the worst-case scenario and would be kept under review. Airbus said it did not comment on internal communications. Shares in Europe’s largest aerospace group closed down 2.4% on Monday after notching up the biggest falls on the Paris CAC40 index .FCHI. Aviation commentator Howard Wheeldon said the letter showed the “realisation of there being little prospect of a large-scale order recovery any time soon”.

“(Bloomberg) — For the first time in a decade, the world risks being cut off from Russian wheat at a time when some key buyers are rushing to import it. The top shipper last month limited sales through June to protect its own supply as the coronavirus crisis sparks food-security concerns around the world. Although the curbs were seen loose enough to ensure normal trade flows for this time of year, Russia has already burned through the entire quota. It will halt grain shipments to all but four former Soviet neighbors once the last cargo booked under the limits leaves the country. While the ban will only last until farmers start harvesting in July, some other nearby nations have also restricted grain exports, threatening to reroute global trade and fueling worries about food shortages and higher prices. Countries from Egypt to Turkey are trying to load up on imports while they still can, and Russian shippers have been feeding that demand.”

Regarding energy, the differences between Europe and America couldn’t be bigger. In America there is a general skepticism about the feasibility of a 100% renewable energy base, where in Europe nobody doubts that it can be done and the overwhelming majority supports the transition. A few populists assert that the transition is too costly and unnecessary since climate change is a leftist hoax, but they are no danger for the transition. More serious resistance comes from the NIMBYs, especially in Germany. Folks who do not reject the transition per se, only not in my backyard.

The American resistance against clean energy can be compared to the resistance people had in Europe in the 19th century against the steam engine. People thought that at 15 kmh they would suffocate or get a heart attack.

This broad American enthusiasm for the film is typical: if Michael Moore or, say, Kim Kardashian or Donald Trump or Mike Tyson or some other “star” has an opinion about energy, the American public is paying attention. Celebrity is everything, expertise doesn’t mean anything, too square, no entertainment value.

Michael Moore and Jeff Gibbs’ climate movie is a disgrace for both science and filmmaking”

Planet of the Humans deceives viewers about clean energy and climate activists.”

“OPINION: Michael Moore’s ‘Planet of the Humans’ Film Trashes Clean Energy, Offers Zero Solutions”

Both Moore and Gibbs are FILM MAKERs, with zero credentials in the field of engineering or energy. And then there is this Ozzie creep, who opines that no energy should be used at all. DT was pushing him lately, I believe.

“Michael Moore’s “Planet Of The Humans” Skewers Renewables, Delivers Same Old Anti-Human Malthusianism”

America has little esteem for engineering or technology, too much trouble; speculators and financiers are the real heroes. The jew Michael Douglas and “Wall Street” (1987), now THAT makes the American heart tick faster.

Actually this is good geopolitical news for Europe, as Americans won’t volunteer to pick up the gauntlet and compete with Europe about who can achieve the 100% renewable energy base first. So Europe will get all the patents, skills, industries and markets.

    Thanks Michael Moore, much obliged!

Superturds, I am back dumbasses and will get to work on my daily routine of mindless sock games for my entertainment. You guys say I have a multi-personality illness plus she says I am obsessive compulsive which explains the stalking, ID theft, and mindless socks. I am also chronically depressed which explains the psychopathic personality issues of anger and lies. I know this but who cares. There is a freedom to being untreated.

“Taylor Swift calls Soros family shamelessly greedy“

Lesbo-feminist Camilla Paglia (“men are handy, women rule”) once called Taylor Swift a “nazi barbie” and indeed, Swift refused to endorse Clinton in 2016, as she was very well aware of the mood of her (mainly white) clientele.

here in Durkamohammedistan everyone has the liquid farts. The alien mothership has been hovering over my shithole town all week. The little green men have released the bugs of covid and Bill Gates invited them here.

My noodle dishes I cook have stopped me getting liquid farts. My noodle diet with fresh dog meat has prevented the liquid farts.
Tomorrow I am trying fillet of pangolin with a bat wing sauce
My favourite wet market stocks plenty of delights in Wuhan 🙂

Fake message Idaho. I never said that.

JuanP is one of the most intelligent, not to mention fair and balanced contributors here. Does he clean my clock on a regular basis? Does he hand me my ass without even trying hard? Sure he does, but I respect him immensely, as I do all the fine, wonderful immigrants that made America Great. And JuanP, is a giant amount giants in this regard.

Dont be fooled by fuckwacks like the dipshit at 12:37 pretending to be me. Makes me sick to my stomach seeing things like that.

  43. JuanP on Tue, 28th Apr 2020 1:21 pm

I am the source of almost all ID theft and socks. If Davy does it back it is because I fucked with the wrong person. He is really kicking my ass and I deserve it.

  44. Davy on Tue, 28th Apr 2020 1:28 pm

Shut up JuanP, stop trying to steal my sock thunder. When, I mean, IF I sock, it’s always for a good cause. When dumbasses sock, it is because they hate America and all she stands for. I only post in your name because I am no match for your keen intelligence, and razor sharp intelelickt. It is my way, of showing you respect. Do I ever sock that stupid old man makatoo or any of those dumbass extremist kanadians? Of course I dont. Waste of my socking time. But you sir JuanP, are too awesome not to sock.

    If I did sock, which I don’t.

  45. JuanP on Tue, 28th Apr 2020 2:18 pm

See, the harder I try the more stupid I look. I am an uneducated fuck off parading as a permaculture farmer. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have no clue how to farm. I go to the moderated side of PO and pretend to be legitimate but come across as trying to look smart. For me it is all about appearances. I am delusional from mental illness with a psychopathic personality.

I guess that makes you a communist or anarchist, Dunacan? People like you and I with money can flirt with isms. It is fun talking the life when you don’t have to worry about the living. I know one thing common to us both and that is we both have a strong hate for Americans. That makes us brothers.
