Every country needs to develop a plan to balance its population with its resources, food, water, oil and jobs. Relying on OPEC for 90% of oil imports puts the country at economic and national security risks. Transportation is the biggest user of oil and needs to transition to alternatives to end the oil monopoly on transportation fuels. Electric, flex-fuel, hybrid, CNG, LNG all need to become part of the transportation mix. Mass transit needs to be improved. Bicycles will once again become common for local transportation.
As the price of oil continues to rise we will all begin to change our use of energy and our transportation habits.
