Matt Simmons (Bloomberg): Peak Oil Now, Oil Perhaps to $300
Matthew Simmons, chairman of Simmons & Co. International in Houston, talked yesterday with Bloomberg’s Rhonda Schaffler about the need to address energy use, his view that global supply has peaked and the likelihood oil prices could reach as much as $300 a barrel.

Maybe someone’s making the point that the sky high prices predicted didn’t happen. If there was sufficient money in the economy this prediction could have been proven correct, but there isn’t and recession is the result instead of sky high oil prices.

As Dolanbaker says, oil would likely have done exactly what Matt Simmons predicted, had we not had a recession.
Now, with hindsight, we know that expensive oil fuels recessions and thus places limits on the the price of oil – it’s a kind of feedback loop.
