Hungry Venezuelans Hunt Dogs, Cats, Pigeons as Food Runs Out

Hungry Venezuelans Hunt Dogs, Cats, Pigeons as Food Runs Out thumbnail

Ramón Muchacho, Mayor of Chacao in Caracas, said the streets of the capital of Venezuela are filled with people killing animals for food.

Through Twitter, Muchacho reported that in Venezuela, it is a “painful reality” that people “hunt cats, dogs and pigeons” to ease their hunger.

People are also reportedly gathering vegetables from the ground and trash to eat as well.

The crisis in Venezuela is worsening everyday due in part to shortages reaching 70 percent. This to go along with the world’s highest level of inflation.

The population’s desperation has begun to show, with looting and robberies for food increasing all the time. This Sunday, May 1, six Venezuelan military officials were arrested for stealing goats to ease their hunger, as there was no food at the Fort Manaure military base.
The week before, various regions of the country saw widespread looting of shopping malls, pharmacies, supermarkets and food trucks, all while people chanted “we are hungry.”

The Venezuelan Chamber of Food (Cavidea) said many businesses only have 15 days worth of inventory. Production has been effected as a result of a shortage of raw materials, as well as exhausted national and international supply resources.

Supermarket employees confirmed food does not arrive at the same rate as it did before, and that people’s inability to get enough is a daily struggle.

Supermarkets are registered into a system in such a way that they are not permitted to sell Venezuelans food 15 days since their purchase of the same product. As a result, long food lines have formed all over the country, with many people reselling their share to earn an “extra income.”

I reference this article because these skills and living arrangements are coming to all of us. During that time as we approach a break in the global system it will slow down and its efficiencies and scale will decline. People will get resourceful and waste will all but be eliminated. Products will be fixed instead of discarded. People’s professions and skills will change in their value and return. People who are innovative with salvage and fixing thing will gain in value. Real creativity and resourcefulness will rule. Our ability to buy things has bred this out of us but it will come back. Attitudes and lifestyles will sharpen. People who are lazy and apathetic will suffer and die off gradually and methodically.

To prepare for this is first psychological and secondly begin to build your skill set. You are going to have to lose your pride if you are a class person. Doctors and lawyers will not make as much so they will have to hustle too. This period may or may not last long. We just don’t know how long the bumpy descent will last. At some point minimums will be breached and the whole economic system we call globalism will fail. This is a certainty. The uncertainty is when. Since we live in the vacuum of “will” and “when?” this is worth planning for.
“A Day With the Buy-and-Flip Hustlers Who Rule in Venezuela”
    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2016-05-13/venezuela-s-only-booming-business-buy-and-flip-at-1-000-markup

“Venezuela’s shortages and lines are epic. Byzantine controls warp wages and distort commerce. Inflation is spiraling out of control. Whole industries are vanishing, a trend that only accelerated after the price of oil, the country’s lifeblood, fell by more than half. But within the incredibly shrinking economy, one business is thriving, spawning a new class of entrepreneurs, a new set of mothers of invention. They’re called bachaqueros. Laura, a 30-year-old former housecleaner, is one of them, buying up basic goods at government-set prices and hawking them privately in the black market.”

“Laura still works for the same people as before. But instead of scrubbing their floors, she sells them goods. She is part of a group of young mothers who grew up in the same slum and scour the capital for consumer items, texting one another to signal when a product hits store shelves, swapping goods for their clients. “You’ve got to hustle to stay ahead,” Laura said as she left the pharmacy and headed straight to a nearby supermarket to pick through leftovers.”

“In a system that mirrors the rationing implemented across communist countries last century, Venezuelans are allotted certain days of the week that they can purchase goods deemed most essential by the government. Laura waits in line but sends in her mother or husband at the last minute to make the actual purchases with their ID cards on the days when her number is not up.”

What is happening in Venezuela is partly the USA’s responsibility. The USA has been attacking Venezuela’s political, social, and economic systems there since Chavez took power and kicked them out. The Americans will not stop.

The same thing is happening in every country in the world that dares resist the American Empire. The USA is hitting and kicking desperately as it declines and enters collapse. This is a musical chairs game, the USA has the strongest military in the world and will go for the last chair by breaking other countries’ chairs first. The shit going down in Brazil is the USA’s doing, too. The American government is scared shitless by the BRICS, SCO, CSTO, AIIB, Mercosur, BRICS Bank, and others, and doing everything in its power to slow them down or destroy them. It is a lost fight, the USA has been in decline for decades and is entering collapse as we speak. I don’t believe the USA will exist in the year 2100.

If the USA can’t control a country, then it destroys it. This is the American government’s standard modus operandi around the world, and has been since before I was born. Civil wars, bribes, blackmail, genocides, coups, political assassinations, terrorism, murder, rape, and similar means are their tools of choice. Their is nothing Americans won’t do to keep stealing resources and exploiting people abroad. If you resist they will kill and rape your mothers, sisters, and children. They are the scum of the Earth.

I hope Venezuelans start hunting traitors and spies, too, to feed those dogs and cats.

So true Juan, the MO of the US especially in the Western Hemisphere is about clandestine interference in any and all countries. A book that I have read some and seems to be a good primer on all this is “Confessions of an Economic hitman” In this book someone who worked in this are of subverting governments and elites in other countries gives a first hand account of how it is done and why. Basically all about the carrot and the stick and about exploiting other countries to feed the insatiable Capitalistic hunger for profit.

JuanP, I don’t believe the Us will exist as a country in 10 years. Maybe not even that long. At this point, I give it until 2025 at the latest. Everything is failing. The infrastructure is crumbling. The living wage jobs are disappearing faster and faster. Incomes are shrinking and the police state is becoming more and more obvious. When the armed serfs hit the streets, it will be game over. Venezuela is a sample of what is coming to America.

The Us is trying desperately to get a big shooting war going but Russia and China are avoiding that as long as possible. They are working to cripple the empire financially and diplomatically thru all of those alternate arrangements you mentioned. Not to mention selling off their US IOUs and stockpiling things of real value. Prepping?

China can take down the US anytime it wants, but it is playing the game slowly, dumping their USTs and USBs at a rate that will not panic the markets. A trillion dollars already. Russia is also frustrating the empire by not falling into the traps the Us keeps setting. Putin makes Obama look like the village idiot. China has problems, but, if you noticed, they are also damaging US interests, They are shipping all of their crooks, scam artists, and grafters to the Us. You cannot tell me that China could not shut the gates if it wanted to. Soon, they will devalue the Yuan and then the fun will begin.

But you see all of this also, I am sure. Nothing new if you have an open mind about such things. The Us has run out of easy countries to plunder. Only Russia and Iran are left. These next few years will determine if we go extinct slowly or in an hour of nuclear mushrooms over American, Russian and Chinese cities.

Too many people demand too many resources……yet the worlds population grows by 80 million every year…..

How many charities are dealing with the same problems they were dealing with 10 or 20 years ago with no end in sight. Every problem is made worse by the worlds growing population. IF you can not provide for yourself you can not provide for a child.

Here is an interesting interview with a mid-ranking Bolivarian National Guard member on the political situation in Venezuela at the moment.

Venezuela has suffered the same curse as most every other oil producing nation. It has been systematically raped, looted, and pillaged, by western corporate interests. Mainly US western corporate interests.

Venezuela nationalized banking, oil and most of their key industry. Then they went broke. Politicians don’t have to good a track record at running a business.

Sadly a coup in Venezuela now would be a disaster. Maybe its should come from those who might develop the nation. But probobly only revenge cycles will begin.
Decades of terror will pass there if they cant change within the existing structure. This haves v have nots.

  16. makati1 on Sun, 15th May 2016 8:33 am

joe, the coup in Venezuela can hardly make it any worse there for the average person. Maybe America needs one to get itself straightened out and out from under the elite? We shall see. One is coming there,(US) I think. Be patient.
