It’s been a few months since I checked the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s Food Price Index. The above shows the latest data (through August). As you can see, food prices, after rising very sharply in 2010, have stabilized near their recent peak level. Presumably this has been aided in part by the slowdown in the global economy since the spring – though the leveling out began before then.
It’s important to note that this FAO index only goes back to 1990 but food prices have been much higher before then.

Too few resources.. too many people.
The endless growth of the world population is not sustainable.
