Hirsch is another of those peak oil nabobs who have stepped off the cliff of credibility.
His new book reveals that he is another conservative climate change denier. He calls himself “agnostic,” but that’s B.S. Anyone who cites The Oregon Petition Project as evidence that there is “doubt” about global warming has no credibility whatsover.

Every country that imports oil needs to develop an energy policy of greater self-sufficiency.
It is time to transition to clean, safe alternative energy. Wind, solar, wave energy, geothermal and second generation biofuels all need to ramp up production around the world. All these sources of energy can be produced locally with local labor.
The world economy was built on cheap energy. Oil is used to produce and transport EVERYTHING we use and buy. As oil prices rise so will the cost of ALL other goods. Inflation in food, and goods will come from higher oil prices.
As demand by China and India continue to grow demand will soon exceed supply raising the price of oil and all other goods for all.
OIL is a key factor in inflation.
The price of oil is going up and so will the price of food and other goods produced or transported with oil.
Our economic security and national security will depend on our ability to transition to alternative energy.
