The reason why the US is going to lose the dollar as reserve currency is their sanction regime against Russia. Russia is more or less forced out of the international dollar system. And other countries observe that behavior and begin to have second thoughts about the wisdom of letting yourself being paid into a currency that perhaps you won’t own after all, because its international use could be blocked by the US and its EU poodles.

This moment, March 2022, is the moment where Russia and China, and quietly supported by other BRICS countries, is creating a new financial system in parallel to the dollar. And they can afford that because China and Russia are reasonably complementary economies, that don’t need that much from other countries, if push comes to shove.
