It’s amazing how many articles suggest difficult economic times just ahead, yet on we go and where we stop nobody knows as things seem just fine. Maybe I’m not reading the same tea leaves, but US GDP growth last qtr. was 3.8%, and we haven’t hit a number like that in a long time. Now the jobs report has more new hires than expected and wages are up a solid amount.

Another metric I use locally is amount of SF Bay Area traffic. I was just at Safeway and it was packed and so was the parking lot. The roads packed too everywhere in the Bay Area. So it would seem the US is doing just fine and this metropolitan area is rocking the Casbah. What’s it like where other posters are? Are people parking their cars at the side of the road and giving up?

The 3.8 % GDP growth comes mainly from financials, government spending, and adjustments in the methods of massaging statistics.
Its been a long time since any of that growth in GDP trickled down to the majority.

I am completely with Kunstler with this. He was a card carrying Democrat for most of his life until Killary/Obama corrupt liberalism came on stage. I have been independent most of my life. Looking back I generally voted independent and for which ever party had a competent and inspiring candidate. I voted for change generally. I hope The Dems crash and burn this election. I hope this because I would like to see new leadership and ideas emerge. I wish a centrist party would form. I am not comfortable with conservatives. They don’t embrace my green views on the environment. They do not acknowledgement the need for a transition to mitigate climate change and systematic decline. This means changes to behavior that the conservatives will never embrace. The Democrats aren’t embracing this either although their constituency think they are. Democrats give the environment lip service but that is about it. Obama didn’t do much at all for the environment, why, because it is better to talk the subject up but not mess with political contributions from big business. The corrupt part of the Democratic Party is about power and will say whatever is needed to get power. They are now completely corrupt and rudderless except for chaos that sows seeds of discord. Politics in the US was once so boring but now it is for the very soul of the country. These next two elections however they turn out will be very exciting but more in a sick way than an inspiring way.
