French experts to build experimental reactor in Iran
Iran has reached an agreement with France to participate in an international project for the construction of the experimental reactor ITER, the Iranian news agency Fars announced today .
The Iranian representatives have come to a general agreement with France on the issue of cooperation in the international project on nuclear fusion, which is known as ITER, the representative of the Organization for Atomic Energy of Iran (AEOI), Behrouz Kamalvandi, said, RIA Novosti reported.
French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the representatives of the ITER project have not yet commented on the statement.

What a bullshit scam. More welfare money.

So first of all, place like Iran has tons of sunlight,
put in solar panels. Second of all, the fusion reactor does not produce energy anyway. It produces national debt, and more little researchers on tricycles and going to 3rd grade.

Iran gets to still have nuclear scientists. Only so much twiddling one’s thumbs is possible before the scientists leave.
As a future technology replacing fossil fuels, yeah right!

That is a good point. With assistance from the Iranians onsite, soon ITER will be producing 1.21 Gigawatts, 24/7, rain or shine.

Has anyone here read ‘Wormwood Forest’?
It’s an account of the Chernobyl exclusion zone, it’s very interesting, the animals seem to be able to produce healthy offspring even after 30 years of high radiation, I’m going to visit the area myself to see if it’s as fecund as I have read. I think it’s hopeful information in case the fuel ponds burn worldwide after a rapid decrease of societal complexity!

ellsworth, the Soviets spent hundreds of millions or more to contain Chernobyl and many got sick and died. What if a meltdown happens in a basket case country like Ukraine and they are not equipped to deal with it? Maybe the Russians will help or maybe folks will bolt and it will just burn. That would be a different story.
