Saudi Arabia, Russia discuss boosting oil output capacity thumbnail

Saudi Arabia and Russia, the world’s two biggest oil producers, discussed increasing their output capacity to meet surging world demand, the official SPA news agency reported.

Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Nuaimi and the director of the Russian Federal Energy Agency Sergei Oganesian discussed cooperation between the two producers to stabilise oil markets, SPA said.

‘This (cooperation) includes increasing oil production capacity to face the hiking world demand in the coming years,’ SPA added

SEOUL, May 29 (Yonhap) — Despite rising import prices, oil consumption in South Korea rose 6.1 percent in April from a year ago, a government report showed on Sunday.


According to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, oil consumption in Asia’s third-largest economy amounted to 62.42 million barrels in April. The ministry attributed the jump mainly to a rise in consumption of gasoline, diesel and naphtha.
