HOUSTON (MarketWatch) — It’s not that there isn’t enough oil in the world. It’s that it may not be developed in time to halt rising crude prices, a Cambridge Energy Research Associates director said Tuesday.
Russia is likely to enjoy its last sizable annual oil output increase in 2005 and will then have to wait until 2010 before growth resumes with new export pipelines, the country’s pipeline monopoly said Wednesday.
The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries signalled a significant tightening of oil markets towards the end of this year, warning on Wednesday it would have to pump close to its maximum capacity next winter to meet rising demand from China against the backdrop of slowing Russian production.

Feb. 17 (Bloomberg) — Crude oil rose for a second day after the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries yesterday raised its forecast for global oil consumption, citing surging demand in China.
Global demand will rise to 83.8 million barrels a day this year, according to an OPEC report, 5 percent more than the group estimated last month. Daily oil use in China, the world’s most populous nation, will climb by 500,000 barrels to 7 million, OPEC said, citing a projected economic growth rate of 8 percent.
