Amid predictions of another active hurricane season, analysts say there’s additional reason to worry that fuel prices will spike to near $3 per gallon.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is expected to require refiners nationwide to switch their pollution-reducing additive blends and demand for the new additive could push up pump prices as soon as this summer, said Randy Bly, a spokesman for AAA Auto Club South.
