$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('WildRose', 'I')'m quite sure it's only humans who understand, from a relatively young age, that death will come and that what is beyond life is uncertain, in many cases feared, hard to imagine, etc.
What separates us from animals is a far better understanding of causality ( aka the arrow of time ), THE fundamental, unescapable reality of this universe. From this we derive technology, knowledge of our own death and judgement of good an evil ( since we can compute the beneficial or detrimental consequences of a choice ).
Man eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and was expelled from the garden of eden.
Freedom is up to the length of the chain.
