Well to tank CO2 - how to reduce it

Unread postby baldwincng » Wed 31 Oct 2007, 06:33:05

I would appreciate some help, please

An EU Directive proposes a 1% reduction year on year in the CO2 associated with finding oil, transporting it, refining it, transporting it to the vehicle.

UK Govt is opposing this saying that everything that can be done by the oil companies is being done......

I was thinking Carbon capture at the oil shale area, NOX reduction on ships, CHP.....I need evidence of what is NOT done and COULD be done to reduce CO2 emissions...

My guess is that the oil companies do everything to reduce CO2 that also reduces their energy costs/energy input. Anything beyond this is a ridiculous step to voluntarily make for a company trying to maximize values for it's shareholders.

This would include more efficient pumps, valves motors etc but not Carbon Capture, elimination of gas flaring, or any of those other "extreme" measures.
