$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('BlinkBlink', 'I') found this link on another forum. Don't remember seeing it here

http://www.rratch.com/Misc/WaterFuel/WaterFuel.wmv

http://www.alternatefuels.com/h2o1.htm

They say it requires only a few amps of electricity. As usual there isn't enough technical info to see how it works.

Chris

Just the "Brown's Gas" scammers doing the rounds again

What they are after are distributors ( who have to buy in, of course) and idiots to buy their overpriced electrolysis machines.

http://www.phact.org/e/bgas.htm

Excerpt.
"A potential customer would be better off investing in an pressure-swing adsorption oxygen unit and LPG fuel for oxyfuel production cutting systems.

I snickered when I read that people had been trying to fusion weld steel plate with 2H2O2. Just use electric arc in its many different forms MA, MIG/MAG,FCAW,TIG...it is faster, stronger, cheaper and cleaner. If you need to fusion weld thin steel with 2H2O2 it is possible. Methanol entrainment is something "Professor/Doctor/Engineer/Famous Scientist/Electrician" BROWN probably flogged during the discovery procedure for his litigation. What dickhead Brown did not comprehend is that you must use A.W.S.- ER70s-6 wire which is alloyed with maximum deoxidant for mig welding rusty steel plates under a CO2 atmosphere. This wire is a common, cheap MIG wire but will (in a limited way) compensate for the lack of CO & gaseous compound interforms in the flame mantle that normally envelop and shield the weld during acetylene/oxygen welding. - precisely the same reasons why you cannot fusion weld steel effectively with LPG/OXY. Brazing most metals (of low mass) is easy, just use flux either applied externally or as a core inside the filler rod. Accordingly, this type of equipment only has a limited place in a NICHE market. Watch this video by FoxNews (short 3 meg).
You will realize how clueless Americans are of peak oil.

I shake my head as I watch this.
Americans will be extinct soon.

The way the news guys think water is energy, like they need to be smacked in the head with a hammer...

Wake up !!!

pstarr,

Yes, how she pointed out, what if water prices go up?

Only think we can hope for is that the stupid ones will die off.
This will leave us with a nice and clean Earth with about 500 million people.

This news piece leaves the false impression that water is the energy source, but it uses electricty to make some kind of fancy hydrogen.

Also, why have a huge amount of electricity stored and then convert it into hydrogen, then into heat and then into propulsion? It seams that using the electricity directly would be much more efficient.

Yep, but what he(/they) claim(s) is that in the process more energy is released then was put in. (tapping it from the atmosphere somehow)

Here are more of these guys:

stanley meyer

new zealand inventer

sa inventer

There are more people claiming to have found an energy-source based on water.

FOX showing this doesn't help if you want to take this serious but if it's thruth that they are going to scale this then it makes me at least curious.

Theres nothing amazing about hydrogen powered ICE engines. They even tend to be a little more efficent than regular gasoline. They run on stored hydrogen at 5-10k psi or stored in hydride form. So here are some example numbers...

2.1 liter engine - uses ~630 liter/min @80psi

Average priced hydrogen generator drawing 1200 watts can produce 600cc/min of hydrogen. Thats 864L/day.... That will run your small car for a minute and a hlf or so... Basically what I am saying is there is no way in hell this car can split its own fuel while running. The engine would have to produce in excess of 12000 watts in addition to the 40-80Hp needed to move the car.

In short they are L Y I N G...

Just a shame we have hosepipe bans here and water wars are starting all over the globe...I'm rather cycnical. This whole idea that oil companies are holding back inventions seems a little far fetched.

This is the s..t I have to put up with from people when I try and tell them about PO. Cars that run on water;

The only way a car will run on water is if the (preferably male)occupant of the vehicle drinks about 20 gallons of the stuff, places the vehicle on a smooth surface, waits about 45-50 minutes until the urge to urinate is uncontrollable, lowers his trousers and p..sses while standing on the vehicle facing backwards.

Do a google news on 'water shortage'. It will show you a list of stories about serious caes of water shortage from assorted places like South Africa, Nigeria, India, Pakistan, China, Israel, Liberia, Spain, Botswana, Zimbabwe, USA (Arizona), Ghana.
None of the stories above is over three weeks old.

Water shortage will become another major problem for humanity within a decade.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')t takes 1000 tons of water to produce 1 ton of grain and agriculture consumes almost 70 percent of the world's water - though only less than 30 percent in OECD countries. It takes more than the entire throughput of the Nile to grow the grain imported annually by Middle Eastern and North African countries alone. Some precipitation-poor countries even grow cotton and rice, both insatiable crops. By 2020, says the World Water Council, we will be short 17 percent of the water that would be needed to feed the population.

The Emerging Water Wars

So how would this guy's invention be a solution for peak oil? You would need a vast amount of surplus desalination plants, which btw would require loads of energy too...

So, all of this, I think, should be taken into consideration as well. At least!
The greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function.

Heh... wouldn't we all...

Pay close attention to how he words the statement: "...on a 100 mile trip we use about 4 ounces of water...". No mention however of whether or not any gasoline was used during the trip (his car is a homemade "hybrid" that supposedly uses both remember); it's left to the viewer to ASSUME that only water is being used (although it might have been selective editing on the part of the press people that put the story together; he may have continued to say that a certain amount of gas was used as well and they simply cut it off).

Also, the "HHO gas" bit seems like nothing more than misdirection to me. Remember the dihydrogen monoxide hoax?

Expect to see many such scams in the coming years...
