World Energy Publisher and CEO, Richard Loomis, speaks to the Young Professionals in Energy and the Petroleum Club of Houston's YPA about changing the image of the Energy industry. He addresses challenges such as "profits seen as a problem", major influences and "infotainment", the good news and the bad.
Sharp, witty, and rational, Richard Loomis speaks in a manner consistent with the format of his publication, candid comments and insider perspectives laid out for unbiased reading and rational analysis concerning the product and the industry that represents the most important challenge facing our planet today.

Here's a link, I don't like embedded videos either. They tend to be iffy..

However smileyhouston,

I'm a little concerned about this...

You seem to be posting a lot of these "World Energy Television"
videos as a representative of that organization. And using the
forums to advertise your organization may violate the code of conduct.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Some guy called Admin', 'U')nsolicited advertisements: This includes offering goods,

donations. This also includes advertising for a website. If you have
something to sell, please contact an administrator and buy a banner.

I was open in that I would like to have your responses, your feed back and input. Prior to posting I communicate with seniors members that to better meet the publics interest, you being the public I need to read your post and see what interests you in Energy, I apologize if I'm pushy but your forum fits perfectly in me doing research and learning about what issues you see that fit via your analyst of what is written and seen.

We are creating a energy network, in fact I've been with Mr. Hoffmiester and the Producer of Discovery Channel all day discussing this.

As the Energy Channel grows. I look forward to have you input and valued response to each post, as this will shape the Channel.

There's something fishy about this smileyhouston character.

If you are real smileyhouston, can you please share an intresting anecdote from your high school years?

Like when I was called the hamburglar? Or that my MOM was president of the PTA and server Non alcohol beverages?

I'm from Friendswood and went to Clear Brook. I've posted pics of me and my doggie.

That is also why I posted my email and work phone, so if you know that L. Cazalot (president of Marathon) is writing and editorial in our mag, you can call or email and say (or ask) "why direction are you taking to go for deeper offshore drilling if you say that that source of oil hasn't been peaked yet?"

Which I'll be doing a program with BP and Shell soon...

what else would you like to know?

I have never thought that a post was created by a computer to appear as if it were composed by a person, but there is something peculiar about what you have written. There is a pattern of simple errors that just strikes me as odd.

Maybe golem can assist with an interpretation.

In the meantime, can you perhaps provide more information about the hamburglar episode? Who called you that? Why? Had you actually stolen any hamburgers? What did your mom think about that?

my goodness, are you serious, when I was in H.S. I would buy .50 cent hamburgers, then sell them at lunch for a dollar, 1.25 for cheese.

My mom thought it was hilarious and being that I've been a personality for years, I told them that I was the Hamburglar and it arose chuckles.

Now, who are you and why the interest in me?

Okay, that answers the question. Thank you for playing along.

I am just a humble member of this forum. No interest in you other than confirming you are a real person and not a machine seeding the forum with propaganda.

As I said elsewhere, welcome! You'll like it here. Lots of experts.

I got your pm.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smileyhouston', 'G')reetings

I'm interested in your insight, who and what are we about?

Image

Greetings and salutations!

Peakoil.com is a site for people, individuals not corporate entities as
they tend to be less then honest and wear fake botox smiles.
Like a walmart door greeter ---> Image

Also news coverage is handled both by our news editors and by
people on the site. We don't have a great need corporate news.

For example, I could post an article about my weekend when a car crashed
across the sidewalk into a building almost hitting me. I took pictures
and in the police report turns out it was a confused elderly women
(94). So I may write an article in the open forum about our aging
population and lack of public transportation infrastructure. In
Ukraine that elderly person would never had to drive... And you see
an article like that's not advertising for a website, it's an observation.

On the other hand I do computer work and I have a side business I
may be growing to sell some stuff here. However, I plan to buy
banner ads instead of advertising my website on the forums.
Advertising in the forums could get me booted. So far I believe the
mods have you on their watch list, but people are easy going here
(myself included), and I think people are hoping you will turn over a
new leaf. Maybe you will find some reason to be on this site besides
the company you work for.

I'll give you a few suggestions:
* It is perfectly within the code of conduct to put a link to your
website in your profile and this link will be look like this: Image

* Posting contact information is also iffy. Unless it relates to the
topic, you should probably keep it in your profile.

* Also it is within the code of conduct to start topics. Gardengirl has
a gardening website, she occasionally starts topics like, "What do
you all think of this...", in her last thread she was getting feedback
on some aquaponics stuff. Now it's true that Gardengirl runs a
garden tv thing, so she is similar to you in some ways. But
gardengirl is not promoting her site or articles. She is mostly just
sharing what she is doing personally and trying to inspire fellow gardeners.

This however is not what Gardengirl is doing, big difference.
Image

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('smileyhouston', '.')..you being the public I need to read your post and...
Here you are talking like a standard corporate rep. Many people
here are in the oil, coal and gas industries. And based on average
IQ and professions we aren't "the public". Also think about how
your other fellows in the energy industry are conducting themselves
on this site. Most of them aren't here to advertise anything.

And regarding learning things from us, you don't need to post about
your tv show to do that. And generally people don't like it when
students or corporate brats ask us to do their homework.

Oh and have a nice day! Image
