Well, the President's on tv now.

He says part of this is the legacy of racial discrimination in this country.

So Loki.. if you're a lower income white.. I don't think it includes you. It's apparently just about black folks. It's not about jobs for living wages, not one of these people has said anything about wanting a job.

MLK had a good idea going at the end there, he was trying to broaden it to working class as a whole, black and white. He was a smart man for that, to see the root causes, that it's economic.

These race things do get tricky though.

Look what happened in South Africa. From Australian documentaries I've seen, apparently post appartheid there just rose an elite class of black people is all that happened. And poor blacks are still poor, and now oppressed by elite blacks. And to boot -- some of the whites, and boers, are now in total abject poverty. They can't even get any of the government help because that's all targeted for low income blacks.

On CNN now: police firing tear gas, telling the crowds it's an unlawful assembly.

Before that, protesters destroyed one cop car, then moved on to another and tried to pour gasoline on it.

Update: crowd of hundreds in front of the PD dispersed very quickly, they're all gone now.

Very well equipped riot police, black armored vehicles whole nine yards, fired tear gas and bean bags and flash grenades.

So I guess it's over! Crowd's all gone! CNN reporter isn't sure where all those people went to, so fast.

One woman says someone had a heart attack and police tear gassed her after, and she was yelling at the white CNN reporter. He looks scared.

Update: CNN showing a liquor store getting smashed in and a big mob swarming in and grabbing things as fast as they can.

Female CNN reporter under attack, she says looters told her to turn the cameras off, now things are getting thrown at her. She says police are nowhere around.

Apparently police have cordoned off the business district and are going to let people loot.

Looks very dangerous for these reporters, they are walkin' around in a ghetto riot.

Things got a bit rougher for Fox News’ Steve Harrigan tonight. The reporter went off the air for a few minutes after his camera was attacked in Ferguson. Just before 8 PM PT, fox news camera attackedHarrigan was reporting on looting at a liquor store when someone in the Guy Fawkes masks worn by protestors said, “Hey man, fuck you!” and knocked his camera to the ground. That kind of language has been heard clearly and repeatedly on FNC tonight, with hosts apologizing to viewers. The photo to the left is what was seen live on FNC just as the camera was hit. Harrigan, who was walked through wafting tear gas earlier, was back on air at 8:10 PM PT reporting that “the only casualty was the camera” and shooting video of more looting with his iPhone.

In LA, protesters briefly got up on the 10 Freeway and have caused traffic to back up for miles.
