Sheehan said she will run for Nancy Pelosi's seat in Congress
unless Pelosi moves to impeach Bush link

Sheehan blames Pelosi and the dems for not having the courage to use their majority in the Congress to stop the war or impeach Bush. 8)

Marvelous idea, she'll pull away 10 - 20 % of the Democratic vote, ensuring a Republican. The Republican could not have come up with a better idea if they had tried. Pelosi can't act on this idea, too many Democrates gave stiring speaches about why we should have gone into the war back in 2002. Either they did not do their jobs as congressmen/women or as Hilleary said on NPR back in 2003 " we had the same information" as she supported the war.

I'm afraid Fishman's right. There's no way Pelosi can comply with Sheehan's wishes, and there's no way in hell Sheehan can win. She'll just pull away a few Democratic votes. She lost any credibility with most Americans when she started singing Kumbaya with Hugo Chavez.

A race by Sheehan (a poor dedicated anti-war and pro-impeachment activist) against Pelosi (a very rich person who voted to keep funding the Iraq war and is single-handedly blocking consideration of the Bush impeachment by the Congress) in SF would sure attract media attention.

By the way....the chances of a republican winning Pelosi's congressional seat in her very liberal SF district are ZERO. 8)

Cindy Sheehan starts two week long march on San Francisco to begin her campaign against Pelosi and the "power elites."

Pelosi & Gingrich --- Robertson & Sharpton

Unread postby MD » Thu 24 Apr 2008, 17:44:54

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')s Speaker Gingrich says in the
ad, he and Speaker Pelosi do not always see eye to eye, but they do "agree
our country must take action to address climate change."

"We need cleaner forms of energy, and we need them fast," Pelosi
responds.

"If enough of us demand action from our leaders," Gingrich concludes,
"we can spark the innovation we need."

Nice public service unity speech. I've seen the ad on cable a few times. It's very touching.

I don't post here much, but I read all the time and I seriously hope my sarcasm meter is broken. I haven't known a decent leader of this country in my rememberable lifetime. It's up to us to get the ball rolling. Actually, at this point it's more like getting an extremely large boulder rolling, but the point still stands. Following the leaders of this country is a recipe for personal disaster.

Isn't Pelosi and wasn't Gingrich two of the most powerful people in our government?
Exactly, WHAT are They doing to deal with this problem?

Pelosi passed a major energy bill a few months ago.

It raised CAFE standards for cars, required more efficient products, promoted domestic alternative energy research, and some other stuff.

It wasn't nearly enough but that's what happens when you have to compromise with a hostile president and a deeply divided Senate.

There are no political solutions to the problems we now face.

To believe that those strutting, preening, dissembling fools on Capitol Hill can even begin to solve our enormous and rapidly growing problems is the height of naivete.

It's not just the politicians!

I just saw another one with Pat Robertson and Al Sharpton singing the same song!

I want to know who has the clout to bring these high level adversaries together and sing unison on an issue?

Or is the message that powerful and urgent?

Who's next?

 The very idea...yuk!

We had that photo op of Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams a few years back. Now this batch. Makes me think they've been co-opted by some of Icke's lizards.

Or could it be...that all we have to do is put aside our differences and work together?

House Speaker Pelosi calls Bush 'a total failure'

Unread postby Ache » Thu 17 Jul 2008, 19:53:46

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080717/ap_ ... elosi_bush

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')WASHINGTON - President Bush has been a "total failure" in everything from the economy to the war to energy policy, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday. In an interview on CNN, the California Democrat was asked to respond to video of the president criticizing the Democratic-led Congress for heading into the final 26 days of the legislative session without having passed a single government spending bill.

Pelosi shot back in unusually personal terms.

"You know, God bless him, bless his heart, president of the United States, a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject," Pelosi replied. She then tsk-tsked Bush for "challenging Congress when we are trying to sweep up after his mess over and over and over again."

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino defended Bush.

"What the president said is a fact — this is the longest a Congress has gone in 20 years without passing a single spending bill, so it's clear that the speaker is feeling some frustration at their inability to do so."

Pelosi's outburst was a departure. Her usual practice in public has been to call Bush's policies a failure — not his presidency or him, personally. Pelosi's remarks are the latest evidence of the Democrats' throw-caution-to-the-wind approach to Bush in the waning days of a presidency weighed down by an unpopular war and soaring gasoline prices.

Election Day, after all, is just over four months away; Bush's successor takes his seat on Jan. 20.

Pelosi's counterpart in the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid, long ago took off the rhetorical gloves. Last month, he ridiculed Republicans who sided with Bush on a Medicare bill.

"Who would be afraid of him?" Reid, D-Nev., said as many senators looked on. "He's got a 29 percent approval rating."

The public's view of Congress is even worse. Its approval rating has hit a new low of just 18 percent, down from 23 percent last month, according to a new AP-Ipsos poll. Bush's approval is at 28 percent, about even with the 29 percent rating last month.

Only 16 percent of those surveyed thought the country was moving in the right direction, a new low as well, although statistically the same as last month's 17 percent.

Last week Reid and other Democrats dropped any pretense of trying to fight the president on battles they were likely to lose — even on the most important part of their jobs, which is passing spending bills that keep the government running.

Of the 12 annual appropriations bills, Congress is likely to pass one or two and send Bush a temporary spending fix for the rest. That would have to suffice until a new president takes office, Reid told reporters.

Privately, Democrats have said that either candidate for president — Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain — would be easier to make laws with than Bush. But Reid made clear which he'd prefer.

"I would hope that before we would leave here this year that we would do a continuing resolution that would get us (through) until after Senator Obama becomes president," he said.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'S')peaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic leaders today held a news conference with economic experts following an economic forum this morning. At the forum, five national economic experts endorsed Democrats' call for the President to immediately release a small amount of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to reduce energy prices for American consumers. Below are selected comments by the Speaker on energy:

"The President said today that he would not support the release of the oil from the SPR because it's there for other reasons. Well, we are having a crisis in our country, an emergency. Whether the President knows it or not, there is an emergency in our country. He resisted withholding oil from going into the SPR. A couple of months ago, we passed the bill unanimously in both Houses, veto-proof.

"The President said another thing this morning. He said that by drilling offshore, it would not have an impact on the price at the pump; I'm glad that he's finally admitted that to the American people. Our message back to the President is, 'It's the economy, Mr. President.'

"It's about jobs and people not having them, and it's about their standard of living and purchasing power of their income going down because of the increase in the price of gasoline and groceries and health care and education, as others have mentioned. It's about the fragility of our financial institutions, the downturn in our capital equity market, the downturn in the cost of the value of people's main equity investments, their homes.

"This economy needs the President's attention and he doesn't need to have any diversionary tactics. It's about drilling offshore, but drilling isn't, by his own admission, going to have any effect for many years to come. What did he say the other day? 'If we could only drill offshore, the economy would be better.' That is a poor excuse from the President of the United States."
