America is living beyond its means

Unread postby KevO » Sun 01 Oct 2006, 19:34:13

"Optimism seems to be inspired by falling oil prices and the expectation that the next move in interest rates from the Federal Reserve will be down. It is an optimism not shared by the bond market, which is sending out clear warnings of impending recession. It is possible those who have pushed the Dow back well over 11,000 points have got it right. Many economists believe, however, that the equity market has got it wrong. They can hear the sound of fluttering wings as the chickens come home to roost"

Good article, as far as it goes, although nothing really new.

China may not end up on top after all, though, because it's destroying its environment.

Ironically, the US may end up better off, once the dust settles, because its environment is generally healthier.

This assumes a nuclear war can be avoided, of course.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Heineken', 'C')hina may not end up on top after all, though, because it's destroying its environment.

The enviroment is just one of several disasters awaiting China and India.

I don't know why people continue to think these two countries will be some great world leaders in the near future. All of India's and China's wealth is based on US funny money.

What they'll have after that disappears is a combined total of 2.5B very poor, hungry, and angry people (especially china, their banking system is a total mess)
Angry yet?

According to the movie, 'An Inconvenient Truth' the possibility of Manhatten, Florida and London (to name a minute view) will be under 20 foot of water, possibly within 20 years, if Greenland melts....
..and Greenland is melting..very fast

Your title is quite obvious, the US has been living beyond
its means, but it has been doing so for 20 yrs, living on
foreign debt.
Now the difficult question is... how much longer ??

About as long as it takes Iran to blow up a couple supertankers in the strait of hormuz.
