gulfwater horizon, a teachable opportunity via a DVD mix

Ever hear of the phrase "If life gives you a lemon, make a lemonade" or "Look For The Silver Lining" when in a storm?

Figure this kind of thinking should also be applied when looking at the problem of the deepwater horizon oil spill in the Gulf.

What just got me thinking about a different way of looking at things, is I was just going thur my eMail and an old friend of mine, sent me a copy of a letter he just sent Senitor Barbara Boxer regarding BP.

So has anyone else noticed that all the MSM stories about the spill, only show images of oil covered wildlife or has 30 second sound bytes of gulf state residents wondering how they are going to make a living?

One thing I learned from physics is in order to solve any problem, one first needs to understand what the problem is. Sadly it seems this key insight is more often that not appreciated by political leaders, or the public ingeneral.

Anyway getting back to the issue at hand, I've got a DVR which I use to time shift my TV watching, and since I have this tool at my disposal, figure this might be the perfect opportunity to use gulfwater horizon issue to help my friend escape the matrix, or at least understand the big picture which is "peak oil" is a harsh reality (why else would major oil companies like BP be looking for oil in 5000 ft of water).

A few weeks ago there was a great interview IMHO on 60 minutes that detailed why there was an oil spill in the gulf

and last night there was a rerun of "Crude" the story of oil on TV

http://www.history.com/images/media/pdf ... _Guide.pdf

which is the americanized version of the down under TV version (which can be seen online)

I'm transfering the these programs i've got on my DVR onto a DVD that runs just under 2 hours which I'm going to send him.

Hopefully he will understand the big picture and who knows this might be a teachable moment for others as well.

Just wondering if you were to make a 2 hour DVD mix, what movies, news reports, interviews, etc. would you include to help a friend learn how to prepare to escape the "matrix" dreamland of a "peak oil" world?
truth is,...
