$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A') most wonderful french film..by tsewei
Saw La Jetée during class last week for my Media Aesthetics and Analysis class. A French classic made in 1962, its poignancy and its impactful images stole my heart right from the very beginning. ...

Stripped to the bare essentials of cinematography, it had more to show, and to tell, in its full 28 minutes, than the usual 2-hour blockbuster.

The movie portrays a post-apocalyptic world, where humans were driven underground because of the destruction we have brought upon ourselves. Scientist then designed experiments to send people backward and forward in time to search for a way out to save themselves. Sounds like a science fiction story, but it is really more than that.
link$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'E')arth lies ruined in the aftermath of a nuclear war. The few surviving humans begin researching time travel, in hopes of sending someone back to the pre-war world in search of food, supplies, and hopefully some sort of solution to mankind's imminent demise.
"An Artwork Dedicated to La Jetée"

The future generations provide the past with only one thing. Who can tell me what it was? (I already know)

Terry Gilliam's movie Twelve Monkeys was inspired by La Jetée.

When the hero goes into the future he is greeted by a more advanced race that looks at him with distain. He already knows what to say as he as been drilled. He tells them that they would not exist if his race was killed. They give him "a generator to power industry" with. That's it just a power source. The significance of a power source was well known.
