But the images are downsized and I wrote the author letting her know
I'm posting this thread, so if she wants advertising for her comic removed,
well that's easy enough.

Great cartoon. The sentiment in the girl's comment is profound and spot on. Nice work!

Ah-ha! Maybe you were referring to the quote in the comic
"And the end of our exploring will be to arrive where we started..."

The comics author Claudia Davila wrote me...
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Claudia Davila', 'T')his is awesome, thanks a lot!!

I also added the credit to T.S. Eliot in that first episode
(it was an intentional quote, not a copy cat thing! :P )

I just posted this week's episode if you'd like to check it out.
I'll go back to your thread to see what people have to say.

Thanks!

Haven't finished, will someone ask "Has it begun to sprout? Will it bloom this year?" 8)

That's really sweet. Unless it ends as scripted by Jack. 8O Kinda doubt that'll happen!

Saying hello... my first post.

The last comic was nice. We planted flax this year. We await with impatience its pale blue flowers. Unfortunately, the supplier sold us "Omega," when in fact we wanted regular flax, which announces its beauty in baked bread as little brownish-black seeds. Omega may be higher in omega-3 oils, which we get enough of due to our vegetable-based diet, but Omega is pale and innocuous, like the color of whole wheat. Perhaps it will revert over many seasons.

In Detroit we lived for many years. We considered buying a home over there by Highland Park, just under that old, neon Yellow Pages ad on the Lodge Freeway. We were "redlined," I would call it, because the mortgage was for a house under $50k. Anyway, I wanted to buy a tractor and farm the area around our house, and give the food away to everyone who lived nearby... In another neighborhood, a man bought a horse and was pasturing it in the empty lots. He was ticketed. And so forth. Perhaps some towns like Seattle may be ready for this, but I have heard of friction in Chicago... We are now settled far, far out.

Very inspiring comic, though. Thanks!

No that doesn't look like the direction it's going. I'd say the comic is
going the "how cuba survived peak oil" direction. Definitely kid safe
and I think that's one of great thing about this comic, is it looks like a
safe way to introduce peak oil issues to children and teach them
useful skills too. :)

I wrote GASMON and he wrote:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('GASMON', 'H')i, Steam. Let my 7 year old twins look at Luz - they think she's
cool, though don't understand the deeper meanings, YET.
Have added to favorites.

That was something I liked living in Ukraine, how horses were often
used by nearby farm to bring food into cities and there were no
lawnmowers. It's too bad, but we still have a long way to go for
people here to not get all NIMBY when they see a horse.

Cute cartoon.

I got a laugh out of the classroom presentation when she's finished describing all the things the are made from oil and how they won't be available after all.

Then says "any questions?" ha ha ha

Thanks steam. The site layout could be better though. Is there a page with links to every strip?

I'm enjoying this cartoon. The author also has a lot of useful information re: gardening on her site.

I was wondering, how is the cartoon being circulated to young students? I think it would be great in poster form on message boards in schools (in the hallways, office, etc.).
