Apocalypse later ... maybe

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'H')owever, over the past five years, Outstanding Investments is up a remarkable 30.32% annualized, vs. 7.71% for the total-return DJ Wilshire 5000. That's a record that you have to respect.
There was a time when I could rely on Outstanding Investments for a resounding apocalyptical quote. How about this, from two years ago: "... For every SIX barrels of oil currently consumed, only one new barrel is discovered. And that number is getting worse there were only 13 major oil finds (over 500 million barrels in reserves) in 2000, six in 2001 and two in 2002. There hasn't been any major oil discovery since then! And when the reality of higher prices hits with full force and I think it's coming very, very soon no one is going to find it more difficult to swallow than the spoiled, overconsuming United States. The crisis is truly devastating in scope and could end life as we know it in the United States." See Feb. 14, 2005 column

Found out how to do it Gideon. Here's one for you. In loving appreciation of Gideon's comments even though he didn't show me how to do it I believe I have done it right but let me know.

Sorry. That's mainly for Gideon because I honestly didn't know how to do a link since most of my posts are just responding to others. Maybe a PM would have been better.

Try to understand, News. Gideon is a rabid proponent of Tough Love. The tougher he seems, the more love he's giving. When he starts calling you names, you'll know you're one of his favorite people.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '"')...The world is not running out of oil. No, please do not buy into that line of false reasoning. What is happening is that, going forward, there may be less oil and it will be immensely more valuable."

They haven't really changed their tune at all. There is no contradiction between OI's 2005 quote and the recent one. If there is less crude oil available to us, and it is vastly more expensive, then life as we know it in the U.S. will indeed end. That's what we forum rats have been saying all along, of course.
