$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Lokutus', '1'). The Wire (HBO)
2. Deadwood (HBO)
3. Rescue Me
4. The Office (UK version)
Honorable mentions:
Weeds
Carnivale
The Sopranos
Never seen any of these except #4. It sucked. Really really bad. All I heard when I watched it was a deafening sucking sound, worse than NAFTA. Absolutely awful. And I usually like British comedy. But I'll look into the others. I'd like to check out Deadwood especially, as I heard some positive things about it on the western history listserv I'm on. Never even heard of #1 or #3, or your honorable mentions (except the Sopranos, of course, though I've never seen it). I'll Google them.
I haven't given my fav TV shows much thought, certainly not enough to put them in order. But here are some I like (yes, I'm a scifi geek):
--Firefly
--Battlestar Gallactica (the new one, of course)
--Star Trek franchise (esp. Next Generation)
--Farscape
--South Park
--Simpsons (not so much the new ones, which kinda suck)
--Family Guy
--Twin Peaks
--X-Files
--Kung Fu
--CSI (just the Las Vegas one)
--Monty Python's Flying Circus
--Third Rock From the Sun
--Black Adder
--North of 60 (watched it when I lived in Canada, but can't get it anymore---if anyone has it on VHS, I'll send you cash)
--Northern Exposure
--Twilight Zone (the old one)
--Outer Limits (the new one---don't have much recollection of the old one)
I'm probably missing some shows, esp. the older ones that aren't on broadcast TV anymore (I don't get cable), but these are the ones that come to mind. TV is mostly a vast wasteland of utter crap, but there has been some good stuff in the last 50 years.
