Recommended reading for those who have never heard of the BRIC "coalition".

It's not an official organisation like NATO, but you'll get the picture.

They are now in negotiation with Kazakstan and Kuwait to get a K to put after the BRIC to complete the acronym.

Will be interesting though how oil depletion will figure into all of this. India and China are huge importers, while Russia and Brazil are far more self-reliant.

As an Indian, I am not at all that optimistic about India's future. I think Russia will be a key player in the energy politics in the middle east and central asia in the next few decades, but has little power outside the region. China is a dark horse and might choose to sit on the sidelines. Brazil I still think is too small. And I dont really see how these 4 powers are going to come together, especially to challenge the domination of the US. Mutual distrust runs deep, especially between India and China.

I didn't think it was a very good article. Even though it seems that people are noticing the geopolitical shift.

Has the "Business as usual" tosh.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')t current rates of growth, China's economy will become bigger than that of the US in 2041. And it will keep on growing, decade after decade, because it still will be much smaller in terms of gross domestic product per head of population.

If the world isn't drastically different in 2041 I'll eat my hat. (It's a baseball cap FYI).
