Track disease outbreaks, epidemics

Unread postby Jotapay » Fri 24 Apr 2009, 11:01:16

I was setting up some internet robots to track certain keywords as they appear on the net, and I ran across an interesting site that I thought I would pass on. It's a WHO news site for disease epidemics and outbreaks news. You know, in case bird flu mutates and goes human-to-human.

You can also set up news alerts with Google News and have them sent directly to your email account when they first appear on the internet. This one is set up to search for the keyword "influenza".

The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.
-- Abraham Lincoln, Fragment on Government (July 1, 1854)

Already has collections from the CDC, NIH, WHO, etc., plus health professionals there to interpret the findings for you (biggest plus in my book; most people have no clue how to read a medical journal).
