I’m sick of all you peak oil hypocrites

Unread postby vision-master » Fri 16 Jun 2006, 11:41:31

I’m sick of all you peak oil hypocrites winning about your bleak future as drive your SUV all over the fricken place, live in those $500,000 + Mc’castles, turn the A/C whenever you feel the least bit uncomfortable. Never used a saw or axe in your life let alone know how to build a fire. Drive to your cabins on the weekends to play with the expensive motorized water toys. Fly all over the place at will & sit behind the computer and pretend like this peak oil is some kind of intellectual video game of some sort. Most of you couldn’t do a hard days work if your life depended on it.

Let me just say, Americans in general are a bunch of wimps today! Hell, when my old man was young, he could live in the wilderness for Months with a sack of potatoes, a can of coffee, fishing pole and canoe. Peak oil my ass, those computers ain’t gonna mean jack-shit.

You See !

I'm not the only one who says we here in America spend all our time and money on Fun, Fun, Fun...

But - Sadly the only way most of us can make a living is to sit behind a computer, real jobs don't pay enough.

Now that is a post worth responding to !

blah blah blah...I'm sick of those things too, but I know most people on this board don't live the life you're describing in the least. Peddle your vitriol elsewhere, asshat.

By the way, nothing worse than an arrogant Texan, dealt with lot of them in Colorado back in the ski bum days. They lived in spender, while I lived out if an old van.

What's this "Colorado" you speak of? It all looks like Texas to me.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('vision-master', 'Y')eah, you stole it from the Spanish.

"Stole" it with a war and a few hundred dead people.
That's better than stealing it with an abrogated treaty.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'w')e are all trapped in somebody's business model.

Thats why I want a big bone crushing thud that brings everything completely down. I want to see everyones business model come crashing down. We need to start with a clean slate.

When is enough enough? Capitalism has led to a world where everything has a dollar value on it. The only thing that isn't owned by someone anymore is the air you breath.

If they could figure out a way to do that one they would put a charge on that too.

I can't wait for the industrial megamachine to die even though it will probably bring me and a whole lot of others down with it. I hate this paradign with its looking at everything in nature as something to use and consume, put a dollar value on and then sell to a bunch of mindless consumers.

Ponzi. All it leaves behind is death and destruction.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 't')hat's right. you can visit the country but you can't stay. no where in amerika to be free. everything is owned: including the land. we are all trapped in somebody's business model.

Was different in the 20's / 30's. He lived in Ely Mn at the time. The Boundary Waters area was wild as could be. Matter of fact, him and his buddies would put up log cabins and stay for the summer wherever they wished. Game wardens put their life in danger messing with the local woodsmen in those days. Ever heard of the root beer lady.

Think about it, wasn't till the 50's that many rural people even had electricity. Geez, I love those aladdin lamps.

:-D Fantastic! I wish I had the kind of dough this guy is talking about. BTW, I live in Colorado and I'm not sure where you could live with that small amount of sundries. How about an axe or a knife? I think those would be key to surviving in the wilderness.

Stereotyping at its finest. Does this sort of ant-intellectualism sound familiar to anyone? GWB perhaps?

vision-master you forget that the past has lead us here. They had good woodscraft past down from previous generations, but make no mistake - your old man's generation thought the world was a 'resource' to be raped and exploited and thought nothing of pissing in the lake. The world was a vast resort and they had zero thought for its conservation. I love my dad and granpa too but I'm pissed at them and their buddies who completely ignored the warnings and screwed us anyway.

So before you get on yourself-righteous high-horse and pack your bags full of nostalgic notions about how better everything was just remember who got us here and that what they thought and did created this future.
