Who is better informed about the policy choices facing the country—liberals, conservatives or libertarians? According to a Zogby International survey that I write about in the May issue of Econ Journal Watch, the answer is unequivocal: The left flunks Econ 101.
Zogby researcher Zeljka Buturovic and I considered the 4,835 respondents' (all American adults) answers to eight survey questions about basic economics. We also asked the respondents about their political leanings: progressive/very liberal; liberal; moderate; conservative; very conservative; and libertarian.

(Get real almost everyone flunks basic economics. Right wingers tend to have slightly more dosh and slightly better education- hence slightly better results on basic economics- hence the less than full disclosure present in the article.)

Recently we had someone here trying to argue that 'benchmark' currency status was infinitely more important than 'reserve' currency status (thus dissing both). I've lost count how many folks here have obviously no idea what the importance of the 'Petrodollar' is- I bet over 90% of 'Americans' would fail that one despite being it's primary beneficiary- never mind the rest of the world.

Mate, I may have exaggerated the point and it's not important now at all, we had an interesting debate and we reached some consensus I thought at least. Lol My apologies.

I think the conversation ended on my part with stating that currency trading almost invariably happens through the $USD even though the exchange is invisible- we were quibbling over a decimal point or something along those lines and the value of tiny margins on massive volumes equating to more than a lot of countries GDP's.

Enjoyable debate! Not something I have ever had or seen anyone have with Vogelspew.
