I am really far away from defending American consumers, but one must bare in mind that the US wages of an ordinary worker are not comparable to those in Europe.
(The US social structure seems to me more like a third world country with huge differences between rich and poor and a small middle class)

Of course you have to bear in mind that gasoline prices are much cheaper for the average American worker than his European counterpart, which is something that the chart clearly shows.

Would be nice if Joel Lou plotted this in a neat little graph for us to see. Would be even nicer if the media picked it up.

Average wages are not higher in Europe than in America, but taxes are.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')e estimate some econometric models which explain the lower rates of employment and wages of Europe in comparison with the USA, analyse those differences during the period 1960-2003 and suggest some changes in EU policies in order to increase both average wages and the rates of employment.

The organized state is a wonderful invention whereby everyone can live at someone else's expense.
