KCTS Connects is re-airing a show about the spiralling down of American economy. Haven't seen it yet, but there is bound to be some discussion about energy. Barbara Ehrenreich, author of Bait and Switch is going to be interviewed on same show. Bait and Switch describes what it's like for a middle aged woman, with a great resume, trying to get a job in private corporate enterprise.
Here's a bit about the show:
A FISCAL WAKE UP CALL FOR AMERICA
Comptroller General David Walkers--Experts with normally diverse views agree we are heading toward a "fiscal train wreck". U.S. Comptroller General, David Walker joins us to sound the alarm about an $8.5 trillion deficit, the impending retirement of the baby boomers and forecasts for an overwhelming surge in demand on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other programs. What's going to happen to our economy and to projected benefits? Why aren't' national leaders taking action to prevent a fiscal meltdown? Hear from the nations chief accountant on this critical issue.
