If you're like me, then not only do you have my sincere condolences, :) , but you also hate shopping.

This means I grocery shop like once a month, with a couple of small trips thrown in, (mainly to get stuff I forgot).

Now I'm a single dad, with a 16 year old son, so I'm shopping for 2.

My monthly grocery bill is around $300.

I'm not very good at this yet... still learning.

So I probably am wasting money making poor choices.

In my defense... we aren't dead yet. :)

How about you?

I am a little embarrased to say I probably spend about $800 a month for my family of 5. I insist on shopping at the local co-op and buying as much local and organic items as I can which tend to cost more. I am hoping to bring down my costs a little next summer by planting my own vegetable garden.

Embarrassed?

Unless my math is wrong, that's $10 more per person, per month than I spend.

We spend about $900 per month for a family of 4 (2 boys aged 2 and 3). This bill includes stuff like diapers, wipes etc.

$175 per mont for just myself. Beer gets expensive when I am drinking 2 cases a week. Although Sonomas only cost $14.00 per carton at the reservation, so at least smoking is pretty cheap since a carton lasts me 2 weeks.

I don't really know what i spend because every time i go shopping (1 or 2 times a month) i get about half food to eat & half to throw in the pantry for an emergency. Then alot of times i'll run to the gas station for eggs or cheese or milk or sumpin.

I hate shopping of all kinds...but cloths shopping is the worst!!!

My monthly food budget is $70/mo and I usually come in under that.

However, I also spend about $300/mo right now on preps ;). By the end of the year, I should be stocked well enough that I am only buying enough to rotate out things that are nearing their expiration.

Actually, the more I've prepped, the lower my monthly food bill has become. I cook much more frequently with raw & dried foods (mmm... rice and beans... again) which keeps the cost way down.

I also stopped drinking beer except as a rare treat.

I have no idea... but my wife says $500 to 600/mo.

No alcohol and very little meat products since I'm a vegitarian. For 4 people and that includes all the assorted stuff for the bathrooms and kitchen.

Let's see 30 frozen dinners times $4 each is $120 for dinner every month.

A number 6 at Burger king is roughly 5 bucks, that's $150 for lunches.

And a bowl of cheerios with vodka runs about a buck a day, so that's $30 a month for breakfasts...

The average person could spend as much as $300 a month on food per person. :)

Just messing with ya.

My parents spend roughly $450 a month on food for 3.5 people (my sister works at friendly's/doesn't like us...apparently). But we're atypical. We tend to not bother with breakfast and eat out often.

Also, I spend most of the year at school where I can buy lunch for like 2.50. My dad works in an office so his lunches aren't paid for by the grocery bill either. And my sister only half lives with us.

On second thought I probably shouldn't have posted this, I'm just clouding up another thread with my ramblings...

Also, everyone should please tell us where they live. Food is cheaper in San Antonio than in San Francisco.

Currently I am spending about $30 - $40 per week on groceries -- includes all incidentals including
TP and beer. Its just me and the dog -- no spouse or kids. Includes one six-pack of good beer
per odd week.

I also hate to cook too, but I am cooking a lot more. Conveinience foods just have too much
bad stuff (cholesterol, etc) in them.

I'm no longer spending any money on gas getting to the store either :-D !

Family of 3, we spend about 200 euro, and I buy high quality food and no junk.
But me and hubby eat out at lunch, and the kid eats at school, so I guess it's more.
(But also, there are tomatoes and zucchini always growing in the balcony... )

OK, last year we spent $1136 per month on average for five people. Not sure that the people count is accurate though, there are plenty of other teenagers browsing my pantry on a daily basis, sometimes I don't even know their names.

Me too... I find that if I buy only food which must be prepared it's a teenager repellent.

I highly suggest hiring a housekeeper that can cook. You should only need one for three or four hours a day, three or four days a week @ $7-8.00 per hour (at least in my area) and you can get a great lunch cooked while the house is being cleaned and your laundry washed. Leftovers are dinner and you are left only with having to deal with microwaving the prepackaged oatmeal for breakfast and tipping the delivery person on off days.
