Hemorrhaging Money for Homeland Security

I just started my morning reading the following

Hemorrhaging Money for Homeland Security
Anti-Terror Absurdity in America
by Georg Mascolo

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'F')ear can be a lucrative business. That, at least, is what American companies selling security gadgets are finding out as the US government continues to spend billions of dollars on a variety of different Homeland Security programs. The only problem? Most of them are useless.

Clark Kent Ervin, 46, is one of those people on whom the US president likes to depend. The staunch Republican is an old friend from Texas who once worked for George W. Bush in the governor's mansion and who, on Bush Junior's recommendation, managed to get a job in Bush Senior's administration. Ervin is an amiable man who is usually quick to smile. The exception? When you mention his last employer -- the two-and-a-half-year-old US Department of Homeland Security. ...

Please note that the story did not appear in Wall Street Journal or New York Times!!!!

Do we need more of this waist to make believe we are safe?? We have problems with schools, pensions, roads, mass transport in cities etc.

Tell your congresmen and senators to SPEND THE MONEY on those issues!!! :x

How secure is a homeland that's broke and in debt deeper than the Marianas Trench?

It's the result of a culture that has come to believe than any problem can be solved simply by throwing money at it. The money spent on so-called "Homeland Security" is ridiculous.

Fear machine propaganda.

BE AFRAID PEOPLE!

You are all suffering from:

Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Vaginal Odors
Allergies
Bird Flu
Mad Cow
Tsunamis
Alzheimer's
Low self esteem

Oh yes... & you are also suffering the side-effects of the treatments for these conditions.

So be afraid... & pass your fear to your children.

Why?

So some corporate criminals stock portfolio goes up a quarter of a freakin percent.

Welcome to your life
There's no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you acting on your best behavior
Turn your back on Mother Nature
Everybody wants to rule the world.

The stories I could tell you about waste......

<- directly supports a number of government agencies, defense contractors, financial institutions etc etc

For the most part defense contractors are very much on the ball, impressive. The government (as a whole) less so but not entirely bad. But certain parts of the .gov, man, I just scratch my head and wonder why.

The last time I landed at Chicago O'hear Airport I thought I was in line at the Disney World. It was such a zoo and so silly.

One security guard forced a girl to take off a thin ( and I mean no thicker then the lead in my pencil ) gold chain so as to stop the alarm going off on the metal detector. Hell, apparently they were looking for needles along with the guns and explosives.

$2.3 trillion

Plus the $1 trillion the year after

Makes the Pentagon the biggest "wastrel" [None Dare Call It Fraud] of all.
As Canadian as ... possible, under the circumstances

and one of the wonderfull things about governement agencies is that they continually have to "justify" their existance

so fear mongering becomes the order of the day (such as TV ad campaigns about how to prepare your children from terrorism).

in the end the public will eventually tire of it unless a new "incident" occurs to refresh people's fear
Angry yet?

That's all the Bush administration has going for it, they're good at fear-mongering. Just think how much could be done if they waged a war on oil dependency? As long as he can keep his uneducated, fundamentalist Christians in red states looking up in the sky for terrorists they won't notice that the country is going to hell.
