I don't even using AIM anymore...all my online buddies sending me all these frivilous messages. I can't do anything else but chat when those programs are running...so I turn them off.

Ha, funny as hell; sorry if it happened to you.

IMHO trying to hold a "conversation" via realtime text is absurd, that's what telephones are for. Text is a store-and-forward medium. Trying to use it for realtime only results in something more akin to baboon-speak, replacing the expression of complete thoughts with a series of one-liner grunts that ultimately tend toward monosyllables or excessive use of abbreviations & acronyms.

Join a board, post fully-developed thoughts, maybe meet friends, email them, maybe get phone numbers, maybe have conversations in voice mode. If you find a sweetie that way, good, if not, no major loss.
