Climate Science and geologic peak in oil production and the consequences thereof are surely more evidence-based, yes?

I think you are actually supposed to add biochar to manure or compost. The biochar provides a matrix for all the microorganisms in the manure.

I think you are actually supposed to add biochar to manure or compost. The biochar provides a matrix for all the microorganisms in the manure.
That's what I've heard too. You get better first year yields if you have conditioned the biochar a bit first by mixing it with compost and letting it degrade before adding it to the soil. Adding it directly into soil can possibly raise the ph for a little while which can change your soil conditions.
