A Safe Place at Home

Unread postby Schweinshaxe » Mon 20 Apr 2009, 22:00:49

Do you have a safe place at home?

I have a safe place at home. I have a corner in my living room which is my “safe place”. I have pillows in there and a kitten. It’s not a real kitten but a picture of a kitten. When I feel threatened I go to my safe place and hide and drink alcohol. Do you drink alcohol when you feel threatened?

My computer is on my desk. When I want to Google something or look something up at Wikipedia, I have to run quickly from my safe place to the desk, enter http://www.google.com or http://www.wikipedia.com in the address field of the browser of choice and then run back to the safe place again (after I have found what I was looking for). My safe place has been equipped wit a 1 watt Luxeon LED light so that I can see what I’m looking at in the dark.

When I have to take a shower, I don’t have to open the door to the kitchen anymore. I can run directly to the bathroom, take a shower and then dry myself in my safe place with a towel [Handtuch].

Brown paper looks like leather but it isn’t as soft as leather. What does brown paper smell like? You can make lines (2, 3 or 4 millimetres thick) on the brown paper with a pen or a pencil. I have brass balls.

And steel. Steel is made of iron and carbon. And brown paper is made of trees.

If you push the rod in, you can see the dial spin.

Thank You!

I'm not yet sure, but methinks this belongs in "THE Do-You-Post-While-Drunk?" Thread.

Yeah, all chicks really dig Schwein for some reason. Maybe a few here could explain why. He definitely does have a cyber charisma like no one else ... like no one can even imagine. Truly rare, yes. We're honored to have him back among us raising the academic level a notch or two. :)

So, this is like the college library or common area where the chicks like the introspective poet/philosopher whose posts reek of his ennui?

I don't know. I don't see the allure. I guess I am too focused on *my* safe place, right now, behind a cash register running the garden centers, and teaching my staff how to not make mistakes on the registers. Instead of pictures of kittens, 20 dollar bills will suit me just fine.

Sheesh.

Good to see you back Schwein! I always enjoy your posts, they are kind of the literary equivalent of a Dali painting....

Not a bad concept (a safe place). Probably similar in concept (though less expensive) than what a lot of guys try to have: (a man-cave).

I actually don't drink alcohol when threatened... I tend to do that to motivate me to do something I don't feel like doing but need to... like if wife wants me to read one of her scientific reports for college (although for some that might be threatening!)

I've pushed the rod in, and sometimes have seen her dial spin.

I really do need a safe place... with a house now I should have one. My first apartment I had a safe place... I had a walk-in closet with an Amiga 500 computer in it, and I was so safe there one weekend I was programming in C++ and I inadvertently programmed for 36 hours straight. I also had an old fashioned record player speaker system record hooked up through a VCR, which also had the Amiga hooked to it, as well as having the computer monitor and the TV hooked up... everything was hooked up.

So I could if threatened open up an icon on the Amiga 500 and run a Star Trek red alert graphic from Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan with sound, and it would play on the computer monitor, the TV, and the stereo system, and go into my safe room. (I know, pretty geeky, but I was pretty geeky in 1991)

My safe place is when I go home to see my family at weekends (after working all week in another country). It's not the guns or the big dog, but the feeling of relaxed contentedness. I am just a happier person being with them, and long may it continue.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('rangerone314', 'I')'m detecting some hostility here: some people could afford to partake a little of the wild lettuce (Lactuca virosa) to mellow out.

huh, that stuff use to grow in my backyard as a kid. It was all over the place. We were always told that it was very poisonous

Actually fairly interesting, especially mixed with damiana, catnip & passionflower, but I'm not going to give out the dosages; it CAN be hazardous in the wrong dosages.
