I need help writing a doom scenario for a friend..

Unread postby t888 » Sun 19 Apr 2009, 12:56:23

Long story short, I got this zombie friend(s) that I am trying to enlighten, this time because they actually want to know... Here is the thing I will admit I haven't caught up with my "doom" lately and a bit rough on the edges (that is understatement)

He wants to know "what will happen" to cause the "end of the world" as people "like us" have predicted...

Well I was thinking something along these lines:

The world ends in 2012, Nuclear Apocalypse. Israel attacks Iran, China dumps the US dollar and stops buying US treasuries. Russia joins forces with China to create new world reserve currency. The world enters a greatest global depression of epic porportions. Eventually the US tries to make a last ditch attempt to control the remaining oil sources in the world, this results in a World War III that leads to nuclear war when both superpowers realize there is nothing left to lose and of course will result in mutually assured destruction for all involved.. The aftermath earth will be covered in a layer of dust clouds, life will be extinct within 2-3 years.

Even if this doesn't happen, "PEAK OIL" will guarantee that 90% of the world human population will dieoff within the next 5 years.

But I want to be able to fill in the details, I'm not sure that Israel WILL attack Iran, or that the dollar is really going to go away down very soon..

Can someone help me with this? Does anyone know of a great peak oil doom scenario that is up to date (as in not written pre-2008) and foresee as accurate? Gerald Celente and Peter Schiff and Ron Paul and whatnot are WAY TOO optimistic... Anyone can help me write a "this is how it is going to happen" prediction story?

Jason Bradford wrote a scenario very similar to this, called "Mendocino 2020", presenting one possible stream of events.

Well, t888, I am not sure it is a good thing to scare a zombie.
They have a fairly hard reality as it is, and being dead already,
many of the things that would scare you or I just don't get
a rise out of them. At least in the movies, they shuffle and
murmur: "brains .... brains .... brains ....", so perhaps you
could tell your friend that we will be totally out of brains by
2012.

The best thing about doomsday scenarios is that they are
always in the future, I suppose doomsday is a hopeful thing
in that regard, or as investors like to say, they are a "forward
looking statement". Another key attribute about a doomsday
scenario is that if you can't find one you like, you can always
just make one up. A high quality scenario is one in which the
creator and their audience are both directly involved in the
storyline and in the end they are both still around to face
the final oblivion.

How about this for a final scene:

"and after all the death and destruction there was just you, my
zombie homeboy, and of course the dreaded t888. And the
t888 ate, and ate, and ate, until everything was all ate up."

The End

Just tell the absolute truth:

War, Famine, Die-off, Over-shoot, Peak-oil, climate change, desertification, soil loss, biodiversity loss, exinctions, pollution, plagues, the list of truths goes on and on.

None of it is likely to stop anytime soon.
