Ok so first they make deals with the media owners (cause face it they haven't had the best reporting going on for years anyway) and then they monitor to make sure the exec's mouth pieces (CNN and Fox etc) are all toeing the party line?

Of course the government is watching you. Self-preservation is a fundamental behavior of a control group. While energy is abundant and readily available, surveillance will increase. Energy decline and budget restraints will change things eventually.

This board focuses on a problem which has the attention of the government. Undoubtedly all posts here are monitored in some fashion. I don't know if the govt has the personnel to thoroughly examine the site content, run background checks on members or make use of the information in the site, but I don't see much around here which would pose a security issue.

In case the NSA does have the resources to check people out in depth: Hey NSA guys, I just want to grow vegetables and tend chickens. My neighbors kid sells dope.

This is going to get a little off-topic, but I love me a good government spy program discussion.

I've passed many background checks. Some were quite sensitive ones that took up to six months a couple of times. I make it a point to keep all illegal activity far from me and actually make the lives of TPTB easier when I come in contact with them. I don't act like a punk jackass or in a hostile manner to them. I make a point of staying on the good side of "The Man" and they treat me very well in return. I've had a number of special federal and state licenses so there are probably hundreds of government databases that I'm in.

And yes, I would bet the .gov monitors this site like crazy. Everything you post is cross referenced to establish patterns of your behavior and predict future actions.

There is a government software contractor very close to where I live that writes AI software which looks for patterns in human activity that has been logged into enormous databases. They also make this technology portable so that TPTB can take it with them, accessing it from anywhere. They just hire teams of young Java programmers right out of school who come in at all hours of the day and night and just type code all day long for these projects.
