Best of 2008: Best sig line

Unread postby wisconsin_cur » Sat 03 Jan 2009, 09:48:48

OK guys. Same rules as last year. Use this thread to make nominations for "Best Sig Line". This category is for a signature line. Please feel free to second, third, etc, other people's nominations. After 10 days (i.e. on January 13), I will close nominations and make the top nominated posters into a front page poll so people can vote. The poll will run another 10 days and on January 23, we'll announce the winner.

Last year's winner in this category was EmersonBiggins, "The people have spoken, the bastards."

Good Luck everyone

Self-nomination possible? If so... :)

I'll have to think of others. Sig lines don't exactly stay stuck in my mind.

Ooohh. That is a good one. I searched for it on Google but found nothing. Several people have said it before but it's not on a sig.

So I'd like to nominate Toecutters (ok, he's not technically around anymore):

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the old growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder. ~Thomas Jefferson

And Mr. Bill, although he has recently left us, I believe:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he organized state is a wonderful invention whereby everyone can live at someone else's expense.

I believe that's his personal one.

I believe that sig line was Auntie_Cipation's first, could be wrong.

I've used that quote as a sig line several times in recent years, and I'm pretty sure I used it here for a while, though I can't say whether I used it during 2008 or not. I've been a member here for several years but as y'all can tell I don't post all that often.

It's a great quote, though, isn't it?

Though I kinda like this one too: :P

P.S. I nominate both of my personal favorites:

Vision-master's "Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it"

and

Wisconsin_cur's "It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him" (Tolkien)

Further down on the profile page from where you enter your signature, there's a box to check saying "attach my signature to all posts" or something like that.
