Too bad the 'future' is coded in flash.

But if you can't be bothered to use HTML, your message isn't that important.

That does look like quite a nice engine though, if its for real. Seems to have many advantages over an otto cycle ICE at first glance. I can't see it making significant inroads in the near future though.

Seems to me that the core technology is their design for an air compressor (and its inverse, operating as a "motor" powered by expanding gases). So then the question, how does that air compressor compare to existing designs?

Have they factored in the need for lubrication of the compressor's working surfaces? Particularly in their water-based air conditioning system? And what about the estimated 3,600 gallons of water per month to cool a house? If the water can be worked on a more-closed cycle, their efficiency numbers are interesting; indoor air conditioning is one of the largest uses of energy in cities (think of all those awful office buildings with windows that do not open).

IMHO they have some issues to work out, but there does seem to be some potential there.

A TV station did a small story on them. Here's the StarRotor news page with a link to a .wmv file showing the story:

I'm trying to figure out how this (assuming it's workable, and instinct and experience tells me it will be quite techinically challenging) provides an advantage over a turboshaft with exhaust heat recovery.
It strikes me as re-inventing the wheel, but making the wheel delicate, precise, and finicky all at the same time.
