I'm watching this cult classic Gen-X flick called The Low Life. There is this character who is a dweeb from Modesto. Obsequious, clueless, goofy. But I was sure I'd seen him before though I couldn't place it. So I look it up and find to my astonishment that he played not only Lynn McGill, Director of CTU in the series 24, but also Sam Gamgee in The Lord Of The Rings. Talk about a Protean shape-shifter, that guy is amazing.

Yes, the son of Patty Duke and John Astin (Gomez in the Adam's Family).

A good actor like his mom.

yes, I did, but I'm going to watch it now that you mentioned it. Domus, thanks for the background. Patty Duke was amazing as Helen Keller. But back to her son the actor. It truly is amazing how a talented actor, a character actor not a prime star, can slip into different roles and you don't even recognize them. Sam Gamgee was also in charge of CTU? I watched both productions and never had a clue it was the same guy. I guess at some point, even the densest among us start to catch on. It sure took me a while.

Let's be clear, here -- John Astin was in the Addam's Family SERIES ... not the movie, right? (Wasn't that Raul Julia (sp??) -- or do I have them backwards????)

Yes, the old TV series. John is divorced from Patty, who is still lives in Idaho. John is like six foot. Unfortunately for Sean he also took after his mother in the height department as well and is only 5 foot 6 inches tall. Not that that is terribly short but it makes it tough for an actor.
